by Helene Ballard Hello, folks! Hope you all had a nice Easter in spite of the snow on the ground. Just keep hope alive in your hearts. It won't be long now. On March 25, some of our residents drove in our new bus to Schreiber for a luncheon at the Anglican Church, followed by a very inspiring talk by the guest speaker, the Very Rev. Ar- chbishop E. Nugulanu of the Sudan, Africa. His parish is the diocese of Juba, a sister diocese of our own Algoma. His Chaplain, who spoke ex- cellent English, was _his- travelling companion. His purpose in coming to Canada was to ask for prayers for the Third World. Religion there is very basic, with no train- ing. Even their Eucharistic sacrifice is very much as it Thanks given Adelaide Beaulieu of Terrace Bay received a certificate from the Ontario Junior Citizen. of the Year Awards Program thanking her for her assistance in running the program in the area last year. She is shown with her certificate, with one also received by the Terrace Bay-Schreiber News earlier this month displayed on the wall behind her. Last year in Ontario 2150 people were treated for rabies exposure. As a result, the Ontario Ministry of Health is urging all residents to be extremely cautious. Since the disease is fatal to humans as well as pets, anyone who's been in contact with a rabid animal must take a series of shots. You can protect your family oy taking these simple precautions. First, vaccinate your pets against rabies. Second, keep them on a leash. Third, everyone, especially children, should be taught was in the time of Christ. They do not have the round wafers as we do, but plain homemade bread. It seems quite a few Moslems are becoming Christians. Their Bible studies, however, are poor due to the shortage of bibles. It seems they are to avoid strays and wildlife that might carry rabies. Always wear gloves when handling a dead animal. Remember, farm animals can be infected too. Protect your family and friends by protecting your pets from rabies. It's no way for a friend to die. Ministry of Health Ontario Minister, Hon. Murray Elston Premier, Hon. David Peterson Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, April 2, 1986, page 7 only printed in Singapore, which makes it difficult and costly. His Grace said they are getting refugees from Ethiopia, and they are always looking for a home. All these people have sim- ple feelings for God. It was a most inspiring talk which I am sure all those present enjoyed. After His Grace was finished speaking, a rubber of bridge was played. All . in all it was a lovely way to spend a day. Now at this time I would like to write an answer to phone calls I have receiv- ed in regard to the problem of only one entrance and exit to the new townsite. Believe me, it is a problem. I know our town council has really been working to try and find a solution to this, so my "bite" is real- ly for the Ministry of Transportation. This problem was brought home to us very clearly in the house fire at 9 Terrace Heights last week, which could not have come at a worse time. Folks who go home for lunch could not get back on the highway, so cars were lined up for both incoming and outgoing traffic. Of course, the police had to cordon off the entrance, but if there was another road none of this bottle- neck would have happened. Just stop and think if there had been a real emergency in which the town had to be evacuated. Can you see the panic that would arise, with everybody trying to leave by that one road? I know I am just one small voice and an old one at that, but please, dear people, do think about this and support your Reeve and Council 100 per 'cent in this. Believe me, it's worth thinking about. Thank you. So, until next week, take time out of your busy day for a kind word and a cheery smile. You will feel all the better for it. So long. Westy Listen R.E.
