Page &, Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, February 12, 1986 Library Board holds meeting by Norah McGuire Mrs. Betty Ann Klassen presided for the annual meeting of the Schreiber Public Library, with all members present including librarian Bille Ann Saarinen, consultant Eileen Ross, and Township Coun- cillor Tom Quinton. Mrs. Pam McKeever reported on the meeting of the Lobbying-Expansion Committee and recom- mended that a presentation be made to the Township Council at their February meeting. Norah McGuire reported that a committee is reviewing the Policy and Procedure Manual to en- sure it encompasses all concerns of the Board. A report on the Eastern Regional Meeting held in Terrace Bay was given by Mrs. Pam McKeever and attended by four board members. Much knowledge was gained by talking to Board members from Manitouwadge, Marathon, Terrace Bay, and Geraldton. Another meeting is planned for Oc- tober in Marathon. The election of officers took place with the follow- ing results: Mrs. Pam McKeever, President; Mrs. Pat Davis, First Vice- President; Mrs. Teresa Startini, Secretary; and Mrs. Betty Ann Klassen, Treasurer. All members expressed their pleasure at having Councillor Tom Quinton in attendance, and it is hoped that councillors will con- tinue to attend our meetings when time permits. Regular monthly meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Helen Stokes. Mrs. McKeever presented an outline of the Annual Report and urged members to read it careful- ly before the final draft is printed. Mrs. Pat Davis presented the results of the Community Survey of Library Users. Members were pleased by the response to this survey and are hoping to act on some of the recommendations when planning for the future. In order to make the library more accessible to our patrons who work dur; ing the week and for students doing research, the Schreiber Public Library will be open on Sundays, starting on February 16, with hours from 2 to 4 p.m. This was one of the recommendations received from our survey and will be attempted on a trial basis. The library hours are Eto: 9:30, ara ecOn Tuesdays, 1 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday to Satur- day, and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sundays. CWL meeting held The regular monthly meeting of the Terrace Bay Catholic Women's League was held on Monday, January 13 in the church hall: The Meeting was open- ed with a prayer and a scripture reading. Claire reported that to date we have 159 members. Irene Kettle gave a report on the meeting of the Handicap- ped Action Group, which she had attended. Suzanne briefly explained the steps a resolution must go through before it can be presented to government. Marylyn presented a report on the CWL Christmas Celebration which was very successful again this year. Special mention was made of the wonderful entertainment provided by the Gems of the North Shore, and also CWL executive meeting and study day which she had attended in Thunder Bay in November. Edna Ramsay proposed a very good idea to the ladies present. She spoke about the Holy Childhood Association, an organiza- tion which helps the poor, neeedy children all over the world. Edna suggested that we all save a penny for the children. We can also en- courage our friends to do the same. The pennies will be col- lected in the fall. Let's see how much we can raise. Dolores informed the ladies that from now on, the month of May will be designated as CWL Month. The World Day of Prayer will be held this year on the first Friday in March. St. Martin of Tours Parish will be the host this Valentine Love Lines Happy. Valentine's Day to my best friend Bruce; my sweetheart of the year. Let's get mushey.
