CUMBERLAND STREET THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO P7A 4K9 Mary Cashmore for Council Having resided in Ter- race Bay for six years and being extremely interested in community affairs, I have allowed my name to stand for municipal coun- cil. I have a college background in business and marketing and have suc- cessfully managed my own business in the Terrace Bay area. To date my involve- ment in town has included being a founding member of Project Mayday, as well as being on the executives of Terrace Bay Minor Hockey for three years and the Ladies Golf Club. As a Councillor for Ter- race Bay, I would like to see sufficient funds placed in reserve to implement a sound financial plan. This cannot be done with plan- ning over several years. An aerial fire truck must be purchased as soon as possi- ble for the safety of our citizens. The streets in the older section of town need» to be upgraded and repav- ed. Although, past councils have tried to have the se- cond access road to the new subdivision without success.we must continue to re-opened lobby the government to allow a second access road to be used. Some other areas of con- cern are: affordable hous- ing for Senior Citizens, easier access to public buildings by the handicap- ped, improved street lighting and the need for the local E.M.O. plan to be publicized. I am ready, willing and able to work for Terrace Bay. Please give me your vote on November 12th. Mary Cashmore Hello everyone! I hope you are all in the pink in spite of some nasty weather which of course we must expect this time of year, so dress warm. Last Wednes- day afternoon we had a very. nice group of ladies who answered our call for bridge players, we are most grateful to you as our residents always look for- ward to their Wednesday afternoon Bridge it helps pass a long afternoon. You know when a person reaches the "Golden Years" of life it's so en- couraging and gratifying to know that even if we are in a Senior Citizen Home people do not forget us. Remember we can still be of use to others with some of our know how and ex- perience we can still *'Lend a Hand' with a problem. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Barker from Toronto who come to take up residence with us, also Mr. William Deparry from Nipigon, we hope they en- joy their stay at Birchwood. Believe it or not but every once in a while we hear talk of Christmas, I don't know if it's the new Sears Catalogue or the child in us but at any rate it's kind of fun. We can always look in the *'Wish Book"' and if nothing else we Can see all the beautiful 'ings and Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, October 30, 1985, page 5 by: Helene Ballard '*'Dream", 'n't cost anything. We said goodbye to \lex Tweedie who retired from the work-a-day world. He was on Maintenance at Birchwood and we shall miss his cheerful face, always say- ing hello to all the residents when he met us in-the halls - our best wishes to you Alex and may you enjoy many years of good héalth and happiness - good fishing Alex. I would like to thank Rolly Sinotte for providing ,transportation last week to the bazaar at St. Martin's Church, we are always zrateful for the many kind acts all you lovely folks do for us. I trust you all have your rose bushes cut down and well covered with leaves all ready to sleep the winter months away. No one has come for- ward with a "Bite" seems this is a happy town no complaints - well that makes this ole gal happy, how about you? So until next week I'll leave you with a few words of wisdom! To help conserve energy like hot water - shower with a friend! And if you want to make anti- freeze hide her pyjamas! Until next time, so long! NicBride, Rita L.S.B.E.
