Terrace Bay Schreiber Public Library TERRACE BAY, ONT. POT QWO" 0.0. TFs Wednesday, October 30, 1985 Vol. 20, No. 50 Serving Terrace Bay, Schreiber and Rossport 35° Norman Boon for Reeve I am running as.a can- didate for the position of Reeve in the upcoming municipal election. As a lifelong citizen of the town I have always been actively involved in some capacity or other. I served two terms on the Schreiber town council from 1977 until 1980. I did not run for a third term because I had embarked on a new career in the hotel business after working for thirteen years at the Kimberly Clark paper mill in Terrace Bay. I retained my interest in council however, and have been a regular attender of council meetings as a private citizen. I wish to be elected to the office of Reeve so I can work towards the following goals: (1) By far the most impor- tant responsibility of your new Reeve will be to en- sure an orderly expansion of the community. After years of having a stagnant population it appears taat the opening of the new Falconbridge mine will have a significant effect on our town. I look forward to the challenge of dealing with this development. (2) I would like to establish more Senior Citizen apart- ment units. (3) We must monitor the actions of the Lake Superior Board of Educa- tion more closely so that they are held fiscally responsible to the taxpayers and also to ensure that they don't make any more at- tempts to close our High School - without -- our consent. (4) We must expand and maintain our recreational facilities. With slow pitch and mixed slow pitch ball becoming so popular we must take a close look at our ball park facilities. I should point out that my involvement in the community in the past en- compassed much more than local politics. For a period of approx- imately twenty years I served in every capacity imaginable in the Schreiber Men's Fastball League from player to president. Ihave served as a coach and referee in both minor and junior hockey for the past twenty years and con- tinue to do so to this day. I am presently serving as a member of the Schreiber continued on page 2 Hallowe'en Drawing Contest Winners And the winners are...
