enn Re Terrace Bay-Schrelber News, Wednesday, October 23, 1985, page 11 i mw . . iD atl Ladies Auxiliary Br. 223 Royal Canadian Legion On Sept. 30th, a Membership Drive Dinner was held by the Ladies Auxiliary. A delicious turkey dinner catered to by the Ladies of the Eastern Star was thoroughly en- joyed by all the Ladies. Mrs. M.C. Kennedy, Membership Chairman was in charge of all the entertainment and prizes. At 8:00 p.m., President, Beaulieu called the meeting to order and welcomed our District Commander, Mrs. Audrey Adams. Secretary, Joan Woods read the minutes of the last regular meeting. Mrs. Alma Hart was presented with her 15 yr. pin and Mrs. Marjorie Hamilton with her 20 year Letter to the Editor No. 3 The Honourable Ed Fulton Minister of Transportation and Communications 3rd Floor, Ferguson Block 77 Wellesley Street West Toronto, Ontario M7A 1Z8 Dear Mr. Minister: During my travels in the riding of Lake Nipigon, the largest in the Province of Ontario, I was reminded of the need to alert your ministry regarding the sound and reasonable pro- posal of painting a white line to indicate the edge of the pavement. This measure would prove very practical and highly beneficial. As you are well aware, Mr. Minister, motorists travell- ing on northern highways are often subjected. to heavy fog. conditions because of the proximity to Lake Superior on Highway 17 and the lea of Lake Nipigon on Highway 11. Furthermore, it would help drivers meeting oncoming traffic with badly focussed headlights, or drivers who simply fail to dim their lights on time or even dur- ing a rainstorm. The benefits accrued from this low cost proposal cannot be underestimated, both in terms of human safety and high insurance rates, resulting from vehicular accidents. Would you please give positive consideration to including this program in your 1986-87 budget. Sincerely, Gilles Pouliot, MPP Lake Nipigon Riding Pastry Puffs The third 4H meeting took place on October 7th. Our leaders Rita McBride and Betty St. Amand were not present.
