Slow Pitch Tournament. May we wish . each team an enjoyable weekend. There are 16 teams entered and they will be playing games at both fields Friday night, all day Saturday with the final games being played Sun- day afternoon at the High School field. Windsurfing: There will be a Windsurfing Clinic presented by Sail of Thunder Bay this coming weekend, July 27th and 28th. Those persons in- terested in taking part in this course may do so by contacting Greg Kodila or the Recreation Office. Registration forms are available. Sessions for the Windsurfing Clinic will be held as follows: Session No.1 - Saturday and Sun- - day 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; Session No.2 - Satur- day and Sunday 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. All equipment and certification will be supplied. Pool News: The August Session for Swim Lessons will commence on Monday July 29th. Schedule of lesson times will be posted at the pool and the Recrea- tion Office. Body Building Com- petition: The Thunder Bay Amateur Body Building Club will be hosting a Body Building Competition for Men, Women and Couples, on Sunday September 8th. The com- petition will take place at the hosting hotel, The Red Oak Inn in Thunder Bay, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will be pre-judging, and from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. will be the evening show. People wishing to obtain Registra- tion forms or spectator tickets please contact Sam 'Depaola at 825-3804 for tickets. TOWNSHIP OF SCHREIBER EQUIPMENT RENTAL BIDS The Township of Schreiber is now ac- cepting equipment rental bids for the supply of one (1) bulldozer complete with operator, fuel, lubricants etc. For details, contact L. Tot Lot News: The Summer Playground hours are as follows: Ernie and Bert (3 and 4 yrs) 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.; Tot Lot (5 and 6 yrs) 2:15 - 3:00 p.m.; Summer Day Camp (7 to 12 yrs) 3:15 - 4:30 p.m. The enrollment for all three groups is still high. On August 2nd the Summer Day Camp group (7 to 12 ear olds) will be going to kaskwa National 'Park. The fee is $8. per child and the children are required to bring a lunch and to wear the proper clothing and footwear for hiking on the shores of Lake Superior. Only the first 30 paid per- mission slips will be accepted. Schreiber Summer Fun Pro- gram: Wednesday, July 10th the Youth Drop-In held a sleepover at the Rec Centre with 38 kids atten- ding: 23 boys and 15 girls. The kids gathered in the Games Room at 7:00 p.m. to begin watching a slew of movies ranging from the "*Never Ending Story" to '*Watcher in the Woods". During the movies, Chrissy made delicious popcorn in the kitchen which was both eaten and thrown by everyone. Later, around 10:30, the kids en- joyed a filling feast of piz- za and kool-aid which was prepared by Tami and friends. Of course a sleepover would not be complete without a pillow fight! Settling the kids down after was close to im- possible! Well, the kids were sent to bed at about 1:00 a.m. however, everything settled down around 6:00 a.m. when a group of kids and weary leaders met in the kitchen to whip up a pancake breakfast which was serv- ed at about 7:45 or so. Then came clean-up! Even though hardly anyone got any sleep, a good time was had by all. The Youth Drop-In kids and _ staff would like to thank G. Figliomeni and Sons for donating a Beta and movies for our sleepover. Swim Program: A reminder to all the registra- tion deadline for the second session of Swim Lessons is Thursday, July 25th at 5:00 p.m. The session will be held from July 29 to August 16th. A_ late registration fee will be charged to late registrants. The bus leaves Schreiber from the Legion at 10:00 a.m. and will return at 12:00 noon. Anyone from the ages of 12 and up are welcome. . Badges will be presented following the course. We look forward to seeing you there. Minor Ball Program: The Recreation Depart- ment would like to receive feed back on the Minor Ball Program. A number of parents have contacted the department regarding run- ning the minor ball pro- gram from early June to August, some like the idea and others feel they would rather see a shorter season; from mid May to June thus ending when the school year is finished. If you have any concerns or feel- ings in this matter please let the Recreation Office know. Our decision on next years program will be based on this feedback. Youth Drop-In Youth drop-in got off to a great start on July 2nd. Thirty-four kids came out to enjoy crafts, basketball, badminton, floor hockey, and board games. A sleepover will be held at the Recreation Centre on ONTARIO GOVERNMENT TENDER NOTICE TO July 10th. Registration forms may be picked up at the Youth Drop-in Office. Watch for other events to be announced in the near future. The Youth Centre will be open Monday to Friday, 11:00 to 4:30. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the Drop-in will be closed from 1:00 to 3:00 while the Tot Drop-in is running. This is our schedule for Centennial Week: Monday 15th: 11:00 - 4:30 Youth Drop-in for ages 8 - 18.
