There are five twin otter crafts capable of fire bom- bing with 230 gallons of water for a four hour period. Five birddog crafts, nor- mally turbo beavers, are used for carrying the per- son in charge of air attack over the fire area. These aircraft are used to monitor air traffic, radio com- munications and direct bombing runs. Leased helicopters in- clude a variety of types such 'as medium weight 204, 205,'212, 214 or lightweight helicopters such as Hughes 500's and Bell 206L and A-stars. Fif- teen are used for water- bombing, aerial detection, infrared operations, per- sonnel/cargo transport and reconnaisance. Leased Astec twin engine detection aircraft are numbered at nineteen and are used for detection of fires. Extra assistance is also obtained on a reciprocal basis from other provinces.
