Minor Ball Program We would appreciate receiving your comments Youth Bowling League The Terrace Bay Youth Bowling League held their wind-up dinner, Thursday April 11th with all 21 leagues members in atten- dance, along with their parents and guests. The bowlers are 7 to 14 "years of age and for most, this is their first try at the game. Reg Gagg, .who along with his wife Ann organized the league says the young bowlers proved to be very talented. Reg and Ann hope they can continue the league next year. Reg made up small trophies for all participants and the Terrace Bay Recreation Center _ presented achievement cer- tificates. Reg and Ann also donated the first prize pla- que to the "Bowler Buster' team, which will hang in the Recreation Center: Also receiving prizes.were Cindy. Sopel for highest score 286, Tara Kralehling lowest score 40 (which Reg says is really not that low) and Wendy Sopel, Cindy Sopel and Stacy Wallwin who never missed a game. Reg and Ann are happy to help these young people learn to bowl. It's a fun league with the only com- petition being improving your own score. A fun time was had by all at the din- ner, with parents helping out bringing dishes of food, helping with set up and clean up. Terry Bryson, Recreation Director thank- ed Mr. and Mrs. Gagg for donating their time to such a worthwhile cause. on the following change to Minor Ball in Terrace Bay. The Schreiber Recreation Department and the Ter- race Bay Recreation Department hope to in- terlock their schedule to allow youngsters the op- portunity to participate with others from a different league. The proposal would also extend the season. New leagues would run from June to August 15th. Divisions: would be as follows: T-Ball - 5-7 - Boys and Girls _Junior National - 8-12 Boys Junior Canadians - 8-12 Girls Senior National - 13-16 Boys Senior Canadian - 13-16 Girls All these divisions would use a softball with no wind up allowed. The other divisions would be for boys interested in Hard- ball, they would be known as Senior Expos age: 12-16. Give me a call and let me know your feelings on this change. We will also be setting a date in the near future to meet with in- terested adults. Talk to your youngsters and see what they think of the change. Please drop by the office or give me a call at 3542. Ski Hill There will be a general meeting held on Wednes- day April 17th at 7:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room _for all persons interested in helping to see the Ski Hill put into use once more. There are a few local citizens interested in seeing the Ski Hill rebuit and up- dated. These persons can only do so much and therefore they need your help and opinions. Come out to this important meeting. Bowling Tournament The Schreiber Food Market First Annual Mini Match Bowling Tourna- ment will be held on April 20th and 21st. Contact the Recreation Office if you wish to participate. Format of Play: 1. Match Play 2. Guarantee of 9 games 3. Six qualifying games to be played on Saturday ~4. Wen Do Intermediate We have finally receiv- ed confirmation that the in- structor for the Wen Do In- termediate Course will be in Terrace Bay on Monday April 29th, Tuesday April 30th, Wednesday May Ist and Thursday May 2nd. Minor Ball The Recreation Depart- ment and the Terrace Bay Recreation Department are exploring the possibilities of operating a joint minor ball program. The program would run from the first of June to the end of August with a set schedule of games between the two communities. We ask that any interested persons con- tact the Recreation Office with their views on this issue. Also anyone in- terested in coaching or assisting in setting up the program should contact the Recreation Office as soon as possible. Summer Positions The Recreation Depart- ment is now accepting ap- plications for summer posi- tions. If anyone is in- terested in working for the Recreation Department they can pick up applica- tions at the office between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. Aerobics 'The next Aerobic ses- sion begins Tuesday, April 23rd. Classes will be held Tuesday and Thursdays from 2:22 to 3:00 in the afternoon and from 8:45 - 9:45 in the evening and running to May 30th.
