Addiction Research Video '"*A robot that isn't able to perform well because of smoking," becomes the means of presenting a fascinating anti-smoking message to primary school children. It's a video tape called "Butt It Out". It was developed by the Education Resources Division of the Addiction Research Foun- dation, and is one of several new resources be- ing made. available to school boards across the province. The star of the video tape is Dr. Cooper who with his-trustly muppet dog and mouse characters con- ducts a smoking experi- ment with the robot. The video tape has been selected as the Best Video of 1983 by the Health Care Public Relations Associa- tion of Ontario. Police Beat Schreiber OPP busy As a result of a com- plaint, a 31 year old Schreider resiieni was returned from the Sudbury area and appeared in Pro- vincial Court in Thunder Bay, charged with commit- ting a Sexual Assault. The matter was remanded to Schreiber Court in February. Police assisted the Cor- oner on Saturday, January 5th, 1985, when a truck driver could not be arous- ed from his sleep. Pro- nounced dead on arrival at McCausland Hospital was Ernst Menzel, age 61 of Thunder Bay. Following a Post Mortem Examination, death was found to be have resulted from natural causes. Two Family Disputes were investigated and the matters were resolved Along with "Butt It Out", which is being presented free to Ontario School Boards by the Ad- diction Research Founda- tion, there are two other free packages. These others are aimed at students in- the' intermediate. and senior grades - they focus on Marijuana and Alcohol, and are titled, "The Score on Cannabis", and "Me and My Friends and Our Booze". Each of the packages includes a video tape, a teacher's guide, stu- dent photo books, buttons, and stickers. With the provision of thesle new educational materials, the Addiction Research Foundation is targetting its message at the three most abused drugs by the student population - alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana. The Norton vehicle was totally wrecked and ap- proximately $4000 damage occurred to the transport. The accident happened west of Pays Plat.
