Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, January 9, 1985, page 3 One does what one can . by MARY HUBELIT It's a weekly news- paper, right? It's not TV or longdistance tele- phone, right? We don't even know who's run- ning it right? Well, I don't care - I have some Happy New Year's wishes to extend and must use the only med- ium available at the moment. First of course, best wishes to all the com- munities around us. Then, very special good wishes to the people at Rossport who went out and met Steve Fonyo on his heroic journey; to the Police Beat people in our stores and shops who were unfail- ingly friendly and po- lite during the Christ- mas season; to Big Bus- iness that took time to acknowledge the basic humanity of the many little people who make Big Business. Best wishes for health and happiness to those dedicated fellows, the Greyhound bus drivers - they face bad weather, temperamental passen- gers, crying babies, plus - this year they had the added burden of freight - parcels that could have been sent by mail. Our Terrace Bay Police responded to a complaint of a_ noisy party, culprit spoken to and problem resolved. Person was removed from Bus. Officers investigated an occurrence of Mis- chief to vehicles on the confidence in our postal service has been so shaken that many of us felt we could trust the bus ahead of the post. I just hope the boys in the front office are as aware of the drivers' efficiency as we are, and will ex- tend tangible appreci- ation in 1985. Not only best wishes for health and happi- ness, but most sincere thanks are extended to the entire crew of Air Canada's Flight #161 on Dec. 7/84 between Ot- tawa and Thunder Bay. They were gentle with a little old lady. They were helpful and pleasant to a passenger. Their kind- ness and concern light- ened the load of one passing from one tragic situation to another. They gave me courage to face whatever I had to face. I will never forget them. A brief look around will focus on many peo- ple to whom we could extend special Happy New Year wishes. Let's, do it, shall we? We'll all feel better, you'll see! BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT Pat & Debb Bourguignon are proud to announce the birth of their second child. Now for this week's Bite. It has come to my attention that the street light right in front of the home is burned out and people are having a hard time guesstamating the turn, I hope it will be changed soon and if it has already been done may I apolo- gize.
