PAGE 18 TERRACE BAY NEWS NOVEMBER 30, 1977 The spirit of curling has settled on the old Club House. It does the heart good to walk into an active enthusiastic atmosphere as is being shown Monday through Thursday evenings in the Schreiber Curling Club. From a low Of six men's rinks two weeks ago we have grown into a strong twelve rinks with a spare board of fifteen. Adding strength, skill, know-how and barrels of enthusiasm, are such notable seniors as Mr. Pat Herlihy; Mr. Charlie Holmes; Mr. Al Slater; Mr. Frank Wal- ker and Mr. Geoff Birch. They are inspira- tions to us all. : Ladies curling as well, has grown from five rinks to ten, with such notables as Mrs. Bena Welbourne; Mrs. Mavis Slater and Mrs. Edna Cocks leading the way. The spirit of belong- ing, pride, and comradeship is taking hold. Mixed curling is enjoying a real upsurge as well! One would think that there were bon- spiels every Wednesday evening by the number of cars and the activity around the club. Raf -fles, coffee, gossiping and honest-to-goodness curling is enjoyed by all. Mixed curling has grown into a fifteen rink venture with many hi- lights planned for the immediate future. By golly folks - I think we have a Club here!!
