"The Vagabonds" did an outstanding job on the music. Novelty numbers includ "Fly, Birdie, Fly" and "You are My Moonshine", 20 YEARS AGO - NOVEMBER 28, 1957 "THE GREAT MORTON RETURNS" World's Greatest One Man Show- Ace Sharpshooter - Memory Expert - Guitarist and Folk Songs - Unusually clever Comedian - Fabulous Showman and Greatest Living Hypnotist - at the Terrace Bay High School for a re- turn engagement, Monday, December 2nd at 8:30 p.m. Winners of the Poster Contest connected with Fire Pre- vention Week are: Bonnie Jean Wilson, Linda MacFayden, Dar- lene larson, Ronald Downey, Roy Williams, Cliff Woods, Ainsley Middaugh, Fay Thorsteinson, Bruce Rapke, Marilyn Marsh, James Hayes, Wendy Duncan, Jean Hopper, Peggy Shirriff, Gail Woods, WOMEN OF THE MOOSE MEETING: The regular business meeting of the Women of the Moose was held on November 15th with thirteen members present. Balloting.on one candidate was favourable. Reports of Halloween Dance and banquets were given and reported as successful... The judging was done by Eric and Shirley Opas, Harry and Alma Hart and Helen Almos at the Halloween Dance. There were so many good costumes, judging was a chore. First prize went to Jeannie Tychoniak, Ron MacMillan, Paulette Coupal and Ronnie Brend who were dressed as the characters from "Wizard of Oz". Marielle Tardif reported that new drapes for the hall have been ordered. The next meeting which will be on December 6th will be our Christmas party. Gifts will be exchanged and five dollars a gift was the decided price. The Children's Christmas Party which will be on December 17th was discussed. As in the' past, the Women of the Moose will again share the expenses with the Loyal Order of Moose. Gifts for over a hundred children will be pur- chased. After the meeting, Mr. Henry Mayor of " -borough. 15 YEARS AGO - NOVEMBER 29, 1962 A fair amount of interest waz shown in Municipal affairs on Monday night and six names were listed as nominees for Council. They are W.J. Adamo, M.D, C&mpbell, A, Fraser, P, Romaniuk, A, Valiquette and J.E. Wellings. J.P. Heenan was the only nominee for Reeve and automatically assumes the post by acclamation. Prize winnners in the Canadian Centennial Art Contest were Primary group; lst - Linda Ray, 2nd - Olivia Difusicola, 3rd - Maureen MoParland., Junior group; lst - Cora Morrow, 2nd - John Bromley, 3rd - Nenoy and Norah McGuire. Intermediate group; - lst - Ann Needhan, 2nd - laura McParland, 3rd - Karolyn Fadden, 5 YEARS AGO - NOVEMBER 29, 1972 Miss Irene Spicer was honoured at a dinnner party arranged in the Restaurant LeBlanc by the Local Hydro Commission to mark her retirement after 2/years service with the Schreiber Board. 1 YEAR AGO - DECEMBER 1, 1976 William Moore, of the Nipigon Silver Age Club, was elected Zone Representative, at the regular November meeting of the Chimo Club in Schreiber, Seven members of the Nipigon Club attended the meeting. Loretto Cataford installed the new Chimo Club officers. Atikokan, who is the Vice President of the Loyal Order of Moose for this district and the Officers of the Lodge joined the ladies for coffee and lunch. A delicious lunch was served by Library Chairman Leanne Burns and her committee. PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND MUSIC AT ST. MARTIN'S Last Wednesday 1977 11 16, the staff pre- sented an overview of the curricular -and extra -curricular Physical Education and Music pro- grammes at St. Martin School. Mr. A. Speziale welcomed the parents and, with the assistance of Mr. B. Peters and Mr. T. Owens, explained the scope and purpose of Physical Education in the schools, the attitudes that can be fostered, and the types of opportunities given the children. Mr. Owens demonstrated with en- thusiastic participation by those in attendance the Health Hustle - an exercising to music approach to physical fitness developed in Scar The Health Hustle is being used throughout St. Martin School. Mr. Owens out- lined the extra-curricular activities taking place at the school: these have been selected to complement but not compete with other local schools. To page 12 'vue.
