Registration Number 0867 7 Birchwood ~ Pinewood Auxiliary commenced their Fall meetings on Sunday afternoon, Octob -er 2nd in the Recreation room of Birchwood Terrace. Donna Josus presided and welcomed A the members and representatives of community agi organizations present. Fi Ken MacLeod gave the financial statement - the efforts of Cliff Riley and Benny Hayes with their popular hockey pools last winter that had given the Auxiliary a healthy addit- + ion on their bank balance. This was later aug -mented by the efforts of Adie Beaulieu, # Darlene Zroback on behalf of the Kinettes LE of Terrace Bay announced their group wish to entertain the residents of Birchwood Terrace i their Club's community service. Schreiber Kinettes also intend to hold one afternoon Bingo a month and each would be self-support-r ing. However at present no Bingo equipment was available. Several clubs volunteered to contribute towards this purchase but it was = * decided the Auxiliary would purchase the Bingo equipment necessary and it would then be read- ily available for anyone wishing to provide. <- such entertainment for the residents. - An invitation was forwarded by Mary Chadwell for any resident of Birchwood Terrace to at tend the meetings of the Chimo Club in Schrei- ber. Transportation however, was a problem x and would have to be provided. Shopping trips will be initiated by other : than staff members and Donna Josus volunteered 4 to drive the following Thursday. Hilda Hie- bert, representing Staff, agreed to take names - {ed of any resident wishing this service. Future trips will be arranged if this proves succesS--- .. ful. Mrs. Hiebert, on behalf of the Home's Director of Recreation, forwarded a request the Auxiliary give more attention to special event days, evenings and weekends when the { staff is at a minimum. She also agreed to take names of residents wishing to attend any events, then forwarding the list to the organ _ -ization sponsoring it, to arrange necessary | SS transportation. A Membership Tea was arranged for Saturday, November 5th from two to four in the after- noon in the Lobby of Birchwood Terrace. Mrs.: Josus will convene. The residents were invit- ed to display 'their crafts and the hand made | rug they are raffling. Funds raised through the raffle were to-help pay for the lovely new organ now in the home. It was suggested the Guides and Rangers be asked to assist at the Tea. Continued page 5 .... 5
