Vibert, Administrator, Pinewood Court and Birghwood Terrace Ha 2) Members of the Board - District Homes for - the Aged. k 3) Concerned Citizens of Schreiber, Terrace Bay and surrounding districts. On Sept. 7, 1976, I commenced work as Sup~- ervisor of Care Services at Birchwood Terrace in Terrace Bay, our District Home for the Aged. On August 26, 1977, I was advised by a phone call from Mr. Vibert that my services were to be terminated effective August 29, 1977. This was confirmed by letter which also | stated that in lieu of notice (as required by law) I would be paid until September 10, 1977. 4 I have written to him requesting in writing | the reason for his decision and have received a reply which basically narrows down to this point ... In his opinion I was lacking in a8 "DELICATE PUBLIC RELATION SKILLS". Mr. Vibert also stated in his letter that this did not reflect on my ability as a Registered Nurse and has verbally stated that he has not had | | any complaints from either the Residents or _ the Staff. I cannot believe that any of you who know me have any doubts regarding either my ability as a Nurse or my "delicate public relation skills" toward the Residents of Birchwood Terrace or to my staff who supported me whole- heartedly. haa | I would strongly suggest that if you are: interested in our Senior Citizens who were in- strumental in building this. country, if you are interested as to how your TAX DOLLARS are béing spent, if you are interested in your possible future welfare, then you personally contact the Residents of Birchwood Terrace who were under my care, to solicit their views of me. ; How could this man take me away from people whom I dearly loved and most of whom loved - me in return, without consulting with the Mem -bers of the Board, their attending Physic- ians and primarily, the Residents themselves? How could this man tell me to ignore the Doctor's orders concerning their well being? How could his assistant tell a Nurse that the Residents are not to be checked during the night while they are sleeping - and the - assistant was advised by one of our local Doctors to stay out ®f the Nursing Department. How was this assistant hired - was it by advertisement in order that the best possible candidate be selected - and if not - why not? ' : Continued page 5 .....
