RAGE TODAY'S CHILD b Po : \ BY HELEN ALLEN THE TORONTO J! J] SYNDICATE Patrick is four-and-a-half, a healthy, handsome boy with light brown hair, blue eyes, fair skin, and the winning smile you see. : He is immature and below average for his age, probably because of many moves and lack of stimulation before he came into the care of the Children's Aid Society. He is now doing reasonably well in junior kindergarten, where his teacher finds him easily distracted and sometimes disruptive in class. She says, however, that he is a most engaging child. Patrick chats a good deal but is sometimes hard to un- derstand because of a speech problem. This is being helped by speech therapy. This youngster is surprisingly neat and tidy, putting things away without being told. He loves picture books and is always eager to listen to stories. ; Patrick gets on well with people of all ages, but because he has had many reasons to distrust adults, is cautious about developing deep feelings for anybody. He needs a mother and father who can help him to believe he is'really wanted and loved and who will enjoy his happy personality without concern about academic achievement. To inquire about adopting Patrick, please write to Today's Child, Ministry of Community and Social Services, Box 888, Station K, Toronto M4P 2H2. In your letter tell something of your present family and your way of life. For general adoption, contact your local Children's Aid Society.
