SUBSCRIPTION RATES: $5.00 per year (local) $6.00 per year (out-of-town) Second class mail Registration Number 0867 NEW APPOINTMENTS FOR HOME FOR AGED BOARD The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Management of the District of Thunder Bay Home for the Aged was held on Friday, March 25th, 1977 at Pinewood Court. The meeting dealt with routine business ap- proving accounts totalling $100,568.48. The ht Board also authorized the funding of two green- houses. One for Birchwood Terrace and one to replace the existing one at Pinewood Court. Four resident's applications for Pinewood Court and one for Birchwood Terrace were approved. : Three of these residents are awaiting for avail- . able space. The Board was notified of a minor fire that occurred last week in the laundry area at Bir- chwood Terrace. There was. however no damage caused. Credit was given to the local volunt- eer Fire Department in Terrace Bay, who arrived at the scene in minutes. Time was spent by the Board reviewing the re- visions in the 1976 Equalization Report for Mun-. icipal apportionment of 1977 cost, which was amended again in March. ; This was the last meeting of the present 1976 -1977 Board. A new Board will take over next month. The inaugural meeting of this new Board was tentatively set for April 29th at Birchwood ¢ Terrace in Terrace Bay. 3 The regular meeting was held at 4:00 p.m. and it was followed by the Annual Board meetings - at 8:00 p.m., to which all sixteen Municipali- ties were invited to send a voting delegate. The first stage of business at the Annual = -- Meeting was to verify the appointments of the new 1977 and 1978 Board members. Each of the five designated Areas of the District of Thun- : - der Bay are to choose a person from their Area to sit on the Board for a two year term. The people named are as follows, from: Area I - | Mr. Alex DANEFF, Area II - Mr. Trevor KERR- TAYLOR, Area III - Mr. H.J. MCPARLAND, Area IV - Mrs. Mary TOLMONEN, Area V - Mrs. Margaret « - SIDEEN. The remainder of the Board is composed of two Provincial appointments and at this time they have not been declared. <x Mr. Alex Daneff present Board Chairman wel- comed the delegates to the meeting and then went into the Chairman's Report which is as Xo follows: : ; During the year approximately $54,570.00 was spent on renovations to Birchwood Terrace. < A Craft Room was constructed for the Resident's and is already considered as a valuable asset. : Construction and relocation of the office was + « carried out and is presently in the final stages Of completion.
