Win Two Days in Toronto with the Ontario Provincial Police With highway construction at its busiest during the summer months when traffic is also at its peak, these sites become potentially dangerous for the workers and also the public using the highway. The Ontario Provincial Police in co-opera- tion with the Ontario Road Builders Associat- ion in an attempt to prevent accidents at constriction zones have introduced "a cartoon colouring contest" commencing July 9th, I975 and ending August I3th, I975. It is hoped the contest will serve a dual purpose by reminding road users to slow down, be particularly alert for work men and machinery and to watch for and obey the flag person at the site. Second- iy Nit will afford elementary school students an opportunity to display their talents and be- come involved with accident prevention during their summer holiday. Entry forms are available at all Ontario Provincial Police Detachments and can be pick- ed in Schreiber Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. SOCIAL NATURE NEWS On the weekend Bill Kujbida and George Dash- kewytch were surprised to find some lovely edible mushrooms on the path enroute to their favorite fishing place. Bill asked the news reporter to find out why mushrooms were growing this time of the year, when usually they were only found in the fall. Jim Chappel of the Natural Resources, Terr- ace Bay was very helpful and informed me that "hane Walshe, a Naturalist Botonist from Quet- ico Park, Thunder Bay had defined them as Morr 2ls mushrooms and Chanterelle mushrooms. There is also a 'false Morel' which is poisonous. A description of these mushrooms is avail- able at the local Public Library. Any mushrooms found should be checked for edibility before eating.
