Ministry of Housing Ontario Take this OHRPportunity fo repair your home Because you live in an unorganized Ontario community doesn't mean you can't apply for provincial assistance to repair your home. The Ontario Government, through the ONTARIO HOME RENEWAL PROGRAM (OHRP) provides money at low interest rates to homeowners throughout the province, including the unorganized community in which you live, in an effort to help preserve existing housing. There's an OHRPportunity for you to take advantage of this new way the Ontario Government is helping people with low and moderate incomes to repair the home they own and occupy. OHRP will lend you up to $7,500 for structural repairs and improvements to your house, which can include plumbing, heating, wiring and sanitation. Part of this money is a low-interest loan, with interest rates varying from zero to only eight per cent, depending on your family's income and size. How much of the loan you will need to pay back to OHRP will depend on your family size, your income and how long you continue living in your home. If you live in an unorganized territory, your local Northern Affairs Officer will help you find out if you are eligible, and will explain how OHRP can assist you. : He will tell you how to apply for a loan. He will also direct you to a property inspector who will evaluate repairs, eligible under OHRP, to be carried out by a contractor. (Other Ontario homeowners can apply at their municipal office.) OHRP aims to bring as many homes as possible to minimum property maintenance. .
