This pin makes possible the: rec- ognition of League members. Mrs. Helmink highlighted on Mrs. N. Cavanaugh's outstanding service to the League, starting at the time the council was organized in November I952 to the present. Ah! those Good 0ld Days sure brought back many memories. The council's Congratulations were extended to Mrs. Cavanau- gh and an expression of thanks for the work contributed over the years to the council. Mrs. J. Kennedy extended our council's Best Wishes and Appreciation to Mrs. M. Vezina, the recipient of the 25 Year Scroll, for all the work contributed over the years to the council. Mrs. G. Rashkewytch asked the members to join her in paying tribute to Mrs. Mabel Carr- 0ll, who passed away recently in Thunder Bay. Mrs. Carroll was a member of the League, ser- ved on many Parish and Diocesan committees. Mrs. Carroll became our Diocesan President; and with her deep devotion to the League, spr- cad the aims and objectives to others. She came to Terrace Bay some 22 years ago and or- ganized our council, with Mrs. Norma Cavanaugh as our first president in November 1952. Mrs. Carroll became our first Life Member in May I961 in the Diocese. To her family and friends we extend our deepest sympathy. A passage from Proverbs 31 was read, "The Perfect Wife". A one minute _Silénce was observed. The meeting closed on a motion by Mrs. P. Regis and seconded by Mrs. A. Hara. Prayers were said and the singing of Holy God We Praise Thy Name and O Canada concluded the meeting. A social hour followed. Mr. Mel Nicol introduced the guest speaker, Mr. M. Vallee, of the Canadian Arthritis and Rheu- matism Society. Mr. Vallee outlined the Soc- iety and its aims, the situation today, what lies ahead and program objectives. Arthritis is the major cause of disability among Canad- ians. It's the only organization in Canada devoted to the alleviation of suffering and disability caused by arthritis. The immediate goal is arthritis control. The ultimate objec-- tive is the elimination of arthritis from the spectrum of human disease. A film was presented. wer period followed. Mrs. J. A question and ans- SCHOOL CHILDRENS BAND VISITS TERRACE BAY Last week an orchestra and band of the Thun- der Bay Separate School Board, consisting of approximately 120 students from grades 5,6,7, and 8 played to a filled hall at the Lake Sup- erior High School. Mrs. Murray, the orchestra leader can be justly proud of the children. They were all attired in Navy slacks, white shirts and red vests and as they took their places the orch- estra looked quite professional and they were exceptionally good. The Terrace Bay school children sat in awe as they listened to beau- tiful waltzes and classical arrangements on violins and wind instruments. Having no mus- ical instrument education in Terrace Bay the students here paid rapt attention to every tune played. Next came the band, with leader Mr. John Bird, who was once a school teacher in Terrace Bay.
