The fish caught by Carl Gorham (centre) weighed in. at 9 lbs. 4 oz. with a I7%" girth and was 29" long. The group had chartered Ray Kenney's boat on Saturday, June I4th. BANQUET WINDS UP HOCKEY SEASON The Minor Hockey Banquet was held in the Moose Hall with 200 attending. Supper was buf- fet style with food donated by the mothers with the serving and banquet preparations done by Faye Figliomeni and her committee. Grace was sald by Father Alex Greengrass. Following the delicious meal Dupas introduced the head table cresentations of awards, crests vere made. Head table guests were Wally & Jean Fisher, harlotte Scheuchenpflug, Charlie Simmer, Chick Thompson, Len Pope, President, Frank Sechesky, Treasurer, Reeve Roy Bray, Irene and Ernie Kettle, Registrar and Director, Jim Mikus, Shizaron Bougie, Kurt Desrosiers, Leslie Samp, M.C. Jerry guests and then and trophies Pope gave a speech and thanked the ladies of Secretary, Father Greengrass, Charles Kettle, Rick Hamilton, Pam Jones, Terrace Bay News Reporter. : Presentations made were - Crests and Arm Tags presented by Jim Pytyck and Charles Kett- le to the Atoms - North Shore Transit Trophy, Charlotte Scheuchenpflug presented the trophy to the 'Cougers' of the Pee-Wee League; Shell Canada Limited Trophy, Pee-Wees, Jim Mikus presented the Most Valuable Player to Mike Moher. Island View Service Trophy, Pee-Wees, Kurt Desrosiers presented the Most Improved Player to Robbie Thompson. g Major Pee-Wee Division Trophy presented by 4) Bill Houston a Director to Captain, Mike Moher Calder Memorial Trophy, Bantam Division, Most Valuable Player presented by Charlie Simmer : | to Ted Velanoff. 4 i Terrace Bay Minor Hockey Trophy, Bantam Division, Most Improved Player, presented by Chick Thompson to Terry Hanley. Best Goal Tender, the Fisher Memorial Award presented by Jean & Wally Fisher to David Lapenskie. Coach of the year award presented by Jerry Dupas to Chick Thompson. A special presentation was made to Miss Sharon Bougie by Nick Chopty Jr. on behalf of the Minor Hockey Association for her work with _ the boys in a Speed and Power Skating program. Jerry Dupas then introduced the guest speak q -er for the banquet, Charlie Simmer, a local { boy who played all his school age hockey years ~. in Terrace Bay. Charlie was like the friendly = giant to the small boys who gazed at him dur- ing his talk, with admiration shining from the- ir eyes. Charlie is now with the California Seals having played on T.V. and is well known to his fans in Terrace Bay. \ The boys and fathers kept the questions fl- owing to the big quiet guest speaker. Jerry Dupas did an excellent job of M.C. encouraging everyone to ask questions. Of course, Charlie in his shy way made quite a few humorous re- marks to some of the questions, much to the de -light of everyone.
