JUNE 25, 1975 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE: 9 these school children stop over for one con- cert en route to Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay and Sudbury. John Bird is in the Fort William male choir and his whole time seems to be with music and it really showed his love of music when his band were put through their paces with their excellent marches and polkas on their brass instruments and drums. The audience showed their appreciation who- leheartedly as the performance ended with the - well known M.A.S.H. tune. Mr. Bird thanked the schools for inviting their orchestra and band and he also presented Ed McAdam with a small token for the hand of friendship that Ed had extended to him and his bands. One sad note following the concert was a frantic phone call to Ed the next day from John - Where was the music??? The whole score for both orchestra and band had gone astray. It was located still in the High School care- fully put by, the door, but overlooked by every- one. The Terrace Bay Police Department when into fast action, much to the relief of Mr. Bird in Sault Ste. Marie and Police Chief Dave Barnett had the boxes on a long distance truck travelling east. Time of arrival if the driv- er followed orders would be twenty minutes be- fore the evening performance, so only one aft- ernoon concert had to be cancelled. P.S. I never did find out how the truck was stopped, but I bet the driver was relieved when he was only asked to deliver some music post-haste to a school orchestra in Sault Ste. Marie.
