Councillor Kennedy, who was unable to attend the inaugural meeting was duly sworn into office on January I3th. Lengthy correspondence began with a letter from the town's insurance company. They pointed out that construction costs have in- creased an average of 46%. With this Clerk Hanley presented a list of the present insur- ance on buildings, equipment, etc. with the increases listed varying from 20-40%. Coun- cil agreed to this. A letter of appreciation was read from Lakeshore Community T.V. for council's letter sent to the CRTC on their behalf. AS A letter from Mrs. J. Yates with regards to dogs running at large brought forth a lengthy discussion on the topic. Councillor' Helmink will discuss this with the police deparcment and report back to council. (See page 5 for further details). A letter from Mr. and Mrs. Kurylo requested reimbursement for loss of revenue during the tile laying at the Recreation Centre. Since no amount was set. in the letter, Council will request an amount be set before a decision can be made. A letter from the McCausland Hospital Board asked Council if payroll deductions could be set up for the town employees in order to - raise funds for the building project.
