PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS DECEMBER I8, I974 HOSPITAL BOARD MEETING The McCausland Hospital Board of Governors held a regular meeting on November 21, 1974 in the Schreiber Municipal Building. Jan McEwen, Chairman of the Development Com- mittee, presented a proposed Functional Progr- am for the new hospital. This report was app- roved by the Board and will be submitted to Dr. Baldwin at the Ministry of Health for imm- ediate action. Dorothy Rummery, Roy Bray and Rena McAdam reported on the visit to the new hospital in Red Lake. Information was received which will help: in further planning and fund raising. A proposal from Geocon, Ltd. regarding a soil condition and topographical survey at a maximum cost of $2,750 was read by Don Stewart. A resolution was passed to engage this firm to complete the survey. Vic Mazzone announced that the plans for the sprinkler system have been approved by the Canadian Underwriter's Association. The sys- tem will be installed as soon as the parts are received by the contractor, hopefully within three to four weeks. The Ministry of Health has approved a grant for five-sixths of the total cost. The hospital's share is $2,883. B. McCracken gave the report of the Finan- ce Committee. A snow machine raffle will be held in December. Letters will be sent to the advisory members of the committee to solicit their ideas for fund raising projects. Both Kimberly-Clark of Canada and C.P.R. have been contacted regarding possible financial assis- tance for the new hospital. J. Nugent reported on the visitors to comm- unity groups by members of the Public Rela- tions Committee. The response has been very favourable and many donations have been recei- ved. A letter of resignation was received from Pat Buck. The President will write to express our thanks for her past service. The Administrator reported that Service Em- ployees Union, Local 268, Thunder Bay, have been certified to represent the hospital's RNA, Ward Aide, Cleaner and Office personnel. A representation election will be held by the Ontario Labour Relations Board to determine if part-time and relief employees in these job titles will be represented by the Union. Bernie McCracken, Joan Nugent, Bruce Tilbury and Vic Mazzone will act as the hospital's Negotiation Committee. The Auxiliary President, Joan Nugent, made a donation of $I000 toward the Building Fund and expressed. the full support of this project 3 by the members. 4 Under new business, Ministry of Health gui=- delines for I975 Operating Budgets were dis- cussed.
