NOVEMBER 20, 1974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE I7 SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS Gerry Nicol has returned %ome from Kitchener after being the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Cenerelli, following his third attendance at that city's annual Oktoberfest. D'Arcy Furlonger has returned from Ottawa where he visited his brother Laurie and family. The bad weather prevented the relatives and many friends who have always come to celebrate Mrs. Eleanor (Nonie) O'Connor's birthday on Sunday, November 10th - her 83rd this year. But her daughter Mrs. Mary Schleicher of Sud- bury and her son Edgar Sheenan and his wife ~ were here from Atikokan, and the usual throng 'of friends in Schreiber and Terrace Bay called with good wishes and gifts, enjoying the spec- ial cake and the ritual glass of wine. Mrs. O'Connor was delighted with the many telephone greetings from her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and other relatives in distance places. Lester McCuaig is in Wellesley Hospital, Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Paradis, of Toronto, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Pearson, nee Retta Paradis, were entertained at many family gatherings hosted by others in the Paradis fam- ilies - Mr. and Mrs. Bill Paradis, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Paradis, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wilson, nee Cecile Paradis. They also visited with friends made when Mrs. Edmond Paradis came as a bride to. Schreiber some 30 years ago, her husband a native of the town. Dr. Nicol Patenaude and his wife of Fields, Ontario also came to Schreiber, his first re- turn in 30 years, to see the place he grew up in and look up old friends - the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. Nicol. Dr. Patenaude's father was a C.P.R. official, the B. and B. Master, when the Doctor was a boy, and he is well remember- ed by the older group in town. UNITED CHURCH WOMEN : Mrs. Beth Macadam presided for the regular November meeting of the United Church Women, thanking members who had worked and donated to the recent banquet which the group catered. Generous donations were sent to the United Church Women's Bursary Fund which is used to provide financial assistance to female candi- dates entering into the service of the Church and to the Two-Way Radio network in northern regions of Canada.
