NOVEMBER 21, 1974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE I3 WINTERS CELEBRATE 60TH ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winters, nee Victoria - Riley, celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anni- versary at a dinner party and social evening held in the Schreiber Town Hall on October 26- the actual wedding date being October 28th. The dinner was attended by 80 people - 52 of which were their immediate family. These included Milton Winters, his daughter Pat (Mrs. Don Beno) and son Michael of Schreiber; his son Don with his children Trudy, Randy, Shelley, and Jamie of Thunder Bay; Mrs. Gus Krause (Ida Winters) with her son Robert of Schreiber and his children Kim, Arlene, Vicky, Danny, Robert, Chris; Ernie of Thunder Bay with Lisa, Ernie,Jr., Deanna, and Shirley; Mrs. Con Duggan (Freda Winters) with her son Jim and children Danny, Jamie and Sean of Schreiber; and son Paddy of Sault Ste. Marie. Also there were Jack Winters of Schreiber with David, Jackie, Shirley, Teddy, Pamela, Lennie, Jimmy, Joanne and Beverley. Also present was George Riley, the best man at the wedding. The Grace was said by Canon James Turner of Thunder Bay. Geoff Birch, the M.C., who grew up with the Winters' family, drew many chuckles as he recalled childhood pranks in which he had shared. He paid mention to the role filled in Schreiber during their married life as Good Samaritans, examples of which were too numerous to quote but cherished by the ones befreinded. The toast to his grandparents was given by Bob Krause. Lisa Krause and Jamie Winters presented a bouquet of roses to Mrs. Winters. : Chris Krause, Michael Beno, Jamie Duggan, and Beverley Winters presented two baskets, over flowing with money, the family's gift to Mr. and Mrs. Winters, with the affectionate admonition to spend it on themselves - not the grandchildren! Mrs. Ida Krause paid the family tribute, delighting her parents and astonishing her brothers and sisters with her recollections, particularly of certain events, which they thought had been successfully concealed or long since forgotten. . ; Councillor J. S. Caccamo, on behalf of the town, presented a clock, with suitable inscr- iption. Jack Stokes, MPP, presented a handsome plague from the Government of Ontario. A certificate was also received from the Federal Government. During the gala evening, George Birch, on behalf of friends, presented the happy couple with a bulging wallet, with congratulations and good wishes. A cablegram of congratulations was received from Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. There were many personal gifts presented. Among these were a family tree, ending in a flurry of leaves, beautifully done as a scroll by grandson David Winters, and three cartoons by great grandson Kim Krause, depicting 'Vicky' at her favourite pastime - bingo = and 'Bob' at his = chopping wood - and the two of them fishing - the captions hilariously apt. It was an evening of laughter and visiting in true Schreiber fashion, with the entire Sam Fournier family attending. Mrs. Mike Duggan, who was Raymie Maher - a long ago school teacher, and Mrs. George Riley - the former Ether Evens - another old teacher, meeting their pupils and their families, and 'Toots' Riley =- Mrs. Gilbert Gerow of Sault Ste. Maire, happily checking up on the whereabouts of school chums of 30 years ago. Among the host of relatives and friends attending the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. George Riley of Mount Forest, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Miller of London, Mr. and Mrs. Paddy Duggan, and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Gerow, Sault Ste.
