HOSPITAL BOARD MEETING The McCausland Hospital Board held a regular meeting on September 25, I974 in the Schreiber Municipal Office. The Development Committee has been review- ing floor plans of recently constructed small hospitals and has scheduled a visit to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Marathon on October 2nd. A questionaire will be used as the basis for discussion during hospital visits. The commit- tee is also planning to visit the new Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital in Red Lake some- time in the near future. A discussion on the hospital's land which is available for the new facility ended with a resolution to have a topographical and soil condition survey completed as soon as possible. D. Stewart was asked to assist in this matter. The Finance' Committee was given a list of possible fund raising projects which could be used to kick-off a Capital Fund Raising Drive for the new hospital. Bernie McCracken will be contacting different people to assist the committee in planning and organizing these projects. Joan Nugent reported that members of the Public Relations Committee hope to visit all community organizations to bring everyone up- to-date on hospital affairs and encourage pub- lic support. The date of April 7, I975 was proposed for the next Annual Meeting; this will be finalized at the next regular meeting. The Negotiating Committee reported on its meetings with representatives of the RN staff. A resolution was passed to approve the offer on salary and related benefits made by the Negoti- ating Committee on September 3, 1974. Pat Buck gave a report on the Small Hospital Conference held in Sault Ste. Marie on Septem- ber I7 and I8th. Vic Mazzone and Rena McAdam also attended and' presented their comments. A letter of resignation from the Board was received from Barry Stephen. The President was asked to write a letter of appreciation for past service. Accounts payable for August, I974 in the total amount of $43,914.45 were passed for payment. The Administrator reported that the hospit- al will receive 5/6 of the cost of the new sprinkler system from provincial grants. A donation of $I00 was received from the Ladies Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion, Schreiber. : The July Operating Report showed the hos- pital is $7,508 under the approved budget. Under new business, resolutions were pass- ed to revise the current policies on annual physicals and resignations. The Ontario Hos- pital Convention program was reviewed and it was decided that three persons should attend (one from Nursing, the Administrator and one Board member). The convention will be held in Toronto on October 28-30. The subject of a new Vice-President was discussed. A notice of motion was moved by 7 Figliomeni that B. McCracken be nominated as Vice-President of the Board. An election will be held at the next regular meeting which is scheduled for October I5, I974 in the Terrace Bay Municipal Office. .
