PAGE I6 TERRACE BAY NEWS SEPTEMBER 5, I974 GANDER-RAPKE VOWS EXCHANGED Large baskets of multi-coloured Gladioli graced the Chancel rail of the Community Chur- ch on August 31st, at 3:30 p.m., when Brook Carolyn Rapke and Terrence Daryl Gander exch- anged wedding vows. Reverend Peter McKague officiated at the double ring ceremony, with Mrs. Pat Buck at the organ. Brook is the daughter of Mrs. Vivian Rapke and the late Peter Rapke, and Terry is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Gander, of Terrace Bay. The bride, given in marriage by her brother Bruce Rapke, was gowned in traditional White Satin, a floor length model, with slim lines, falling softly into a train. The high neck- line featured a set-in of sheer Nylon, which was outlined with a white floral lace applique A wide satin ribbon set off the tiny waistline and the floral lace applique was used as a decoration down the front of the gown, around the hem and the train. Self-covered buttons were on the cuffs of the long sleeves, along with the lace trim. ; A lace Juliet .cap, trimmed with lace ruch- ing, seed pearls and brilliants, held the sca- lloped four tiered veil. She carried a Cas- cade bouquet of yellow and white Talisman ros- es, and streamers of Ivy with tiny rosebuds. The Matron of Honour, Mrs. Cathleen Corm- ier, of Manitouwadge, was gowned ina floor length pale green, yellow and white Nylon prin -t, with rounded neckline, short sleeves, Empire waist, and she wore a yellow flower in her hair. Mrs. Cormier carried a Nosegay of yellow and white Talisman roses with trailing satin ribbons and tiny white rosebuds. The Best Man was Clark Gander, brother of the groom, and the us- her was Ken Martinson, cousin of the groom. For a reception at the Masonic Hall, with a dinner catered by members of Silver Birch Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Rapke received wearing an American Beauty rose floor length model, made on slim lines, with the neck- line, cuffs and front of the bod- ice outlined with silver braid. She had a corsage of white Sweet- heart roses. Mrs. Gander also re- ceived, wearing a long Aqua Nylon crepe gown, with long sleeves, a high rounded neckline, and she all BLIMEY. THIS IS A CHANGE --GETTIN' BACK BEFORE THE PUB CLOSES (J = DOWN, Mr. Sax Lundberg gave the toast to the Bride, and the guest book was circulated by the bride's niece, Christine Rapke. The three tiered wedding cake was nestled in a sea of white tulle on the bride's table. It was decorated with yellow roses and topped by white satin bells. It was flanked by yellow and white candles. The cake was passed to the guests by the Bride and Groom. For travelling to Markham, where the young couple will make their home, Brook donned a mini-dress, of Fortrel, with a rust-flowered white bodice, and the skirt featuring white flowers printed on rust. With this she wore a pale blue coat and an orchid corsage. Brook was the guest of honour at two show- ers, one at the home of Mrs. Marge Lundberg and the other at the home of Mrs. Joan Nugent. On Friday evening, prior to the wedding, the couple were entertained at a Wine and Chee -se party, at the home of Marlene and Bruce Rapke. Out of town guests at the wedding were Mr. Gander's two sisters, Helen Raine and Margaret Anderson of Dryden and Mr. N. Cormier of Manitouwadge.
