PAGE I2 TERRACE BAY NEWS AUGUST I4, I974 - BAXTER-POWER VOWS EXCHANGED Wedding vows were exchanged between Alanna Mary Power, daughter of Mr. and llrs. John Power and James Arthur Baxter son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Baxter on Friday, May 24th at 3 p.m. in Holy Angels Church, Schreiber. Father F.J. Meyer officiated at the cere- mony. The bride chose a floor length gown in white silk organza, featuring long sleeves, a ruffled high neck and trimmed with pink satin ribbons through the lace. Her head dress was white floppy brim picture hat holding in place her waist length veil. She carried a bouquet of pink baby roses interwoven with baby's breath. Miss Linda Power (sister of the bride) the maid of honour chose a floor length gown of white and pink nylon swiss dot. White access- ories and white floppy brim hat with pink trim completed her ensemble. She carried a bouquet of daisies. The best man was Wayne Baxter (brother of the groom) and guests were ushered into church by Don Baxter (brother of the groom) and Dan Power (cousin of the bride). The wedding party dined at the Red Dog Inn and later held a reception at the home of the bride's parents. For the wedding and receiving Mrs. Power chose a long floral gown in shades of blue, mauve and white and wore a corsage of yellow carnations. Mrs. Baxter chose a long gown in aqua blue and wore a corsage of pink carnation. For travelling to Eastern Ontario, the bride donned a two piece pant suit of blue and white polyester knit with matching white accessories. Out of town guests included - Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Perrault, Kathy Perry, Dan Hanlin, Lin- da Power, Laura McParland, Dianne Huard, Donna Noonan, Shirley Winters, Ann Marie McGrath, Bob Woods, Tim Power, all of Thunder Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Yates and Leo Legault, Terrace Bay. SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS Ambrose McGrath and his sons Kerry, Stephen and Joseph of Hamilton are here to attend the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. M.J. McGrath on August 8th. Ambrose and Michael are brothers and the visitors will also spend time with Mr. and Mrs. John Power - Ambrose's sister Teresa. Craig and Billy Furlonger of Ottawa are visiting their grandmother Mrs. W.G. Furlonger. Her old friends were distressed to hear that Mrs. Ethel Smitheman was in the Sudbury General Hospital, after breaking her hip - now transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital, Thunder Bay. : Albert Garrity is in the General Hospital, Thunder Bay after breaking his hip in a fall in his store; Lorne Bourke is also in that hospit- al; and Mrs. George Lemieux is in Westmount hos -pital. ; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Winters hosted a famil party over the weekend arranging a dinner at Terrace Beach to honour their daughter Shirley and her fiance Dave Hamilton, of Thunder Bay; Mrs. Dave Hamilton and Mrs. Jessie Cockes, of Thunder Bay also attended. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mills, with sons Brent and Donald, are spending their vacation as so many Northwestern Ontario people are doing this year -- seeing their OWN area at a leisurely pace. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Christie with Laurie and Douglas of Deep River are visiting grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Handel and Mrs. Lillian Christie. Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Davenport and daughters Kim and Tracy of Vancouver are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Muia - their daughter Elaine. r
