V.L. Huggard and J. Lariviere of Thunder Bay were business visitors here this week. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rochon and three sons en- route from Wawa to Kimberly and Hendricks, B.C. visited Mrs. Rochon's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Hubelit. Henry Powers of Thunder Bay was a holiday visitor with the Isadore Ray family. Mrs. C. Todesco was a business visitors to Thunder Bay during the week. Mr. and Mrs. David Mushquash attended the funeral of the late George Boudreau Thursday, in Thunder Bay. Mrs. Grace Bruley of Thunder Bay accompanied by her son Albert and family are holidaying at their summer home here. Alfred Ray is a patient in the Port Arthur General Hospital. L.L. Petersen and family of Toronto are holidaying in Rossport area. Miss Laurie Anne Mushquash has arrived home from a holiday in Toronto and Peterboro. Dr. and Mrs. Merner of Minneapolis, Minn. have arrived on their annual fishing trip. TERRACE BAY RECREATION NEWS SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING: The Terrace Bay Recreation Committee will be offering a course in synchronized swimming. The course will start July I5th, the registra- tion date being July 8th to the I2th. During the first week, a team of 9 will be chosen from all those registered in the program. Attend- ance will be taken into consideration. The program, taught by Joan Persson, will involve basic body positions and balances. In order to register, one must hold their Red Cross/Royal Life Intermediate swimming certificate. SUMMER PLAYGROUND '74: The first week of the Playground program was a very busy and exciting one, with special . events for each age group to wind up the week. Wednesday evening, a new approach to the trad- itional Scavenger Hunt was held. Divided into two teams, with the Playground leaders as the captains, each team covered one side of the town. Scores were close but team number one ended up the first winner. Thanks to the people in town who contributed the valuable "junk" which we will now use to supplement our craft supplies. Friday morning, the 5 and 6 yr. old group truck. Mr. Stachiw was on hand to explain the equipment to the children. After that, the children and leaders went for a picnic to end the morning. Even overcast skies didn't stop the 7-9 yr. old children from a beach 'supper at the Kimberly-Clark beach Friday morning. A lot of hot dogs and marshamallows were cooked and eaten, and a very competitive sand castle building contest followed supper. The winners of the Best Sand Castle were Kev- in Regis, Karen Seidel and Roger Theriault. Honourable mention to Sheila Houston who did a very good job on her castle. The second Annual Bowling Tournament for I0-I2 yr. olds was held Friday evening. Win- ners and results of this event will be pub- lished next week. The second week of Playground 1o0ks to be shaping up for another exciting one. Special events include: 5 & 6 yr. old - Wild West Day; 7-9 yr. old boys - fishing trip; 7-9 yr. old .girls - sleeping party; I0-I4 yr.olds - Pre- teen dance. Further information on these events will be sent home to the parents during the week. It is not too late to come to Playground and there is no registration, so kids, come out and have fun! ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM EXHIBIT TO VISIT T.B.: On Friday, July I9th, the Royal Ontario Museum will have an exhibit in Terrace Bay, which will be set up at the Curling Rink Park- ing Lot. Please refer to page II for more details on this exhibit. ROYAL LIFE SAVING SOCIETY DEMONSTRATION TEAM TO VISIT TERRACE BAY: On Wednesday, July 24th, three resource people from the Royal Life Saving Society will be in Terrace Bay to conduct an area demonstra -tion. The demonstration will take place from I to 4 p.m. at the pool so consequently there will be no Public Swimming session on Wednes- day afternoon, July 24th. The first half of the afternoon will be spent on demonstrating proficiency skills to swim staffs from Marath- on, Schreiber and Terrace Bay. The last half of the afternoon will be open to the public and demonstrations will range from diving to water safety. LACROSSE CLINIC THIS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: The Terrace Bay Recreation Committee, in conjunction with the Ontario Lacrosse Associ- ation, is pleased to announce a players clinic in Lacrosse this Thursday and Friday, July II and I2th. This clinic is open to everyone and will get underway on Thursday at the arena at paid a visit to the fire hall to see the fire 6:30 pm. continued page I6
