Mrs. Rena McAdam, president of the McCaus- land Hospital Board of Governors, was the guest speaker at the regular June meeting of the Schreiber Women's Institute on June IIth. she described the early history of the hospital in Terrace Bay, the duties and objec- tives of the Board of Governors, to make the present building an efficient and pleasant place for Schreiber and Terrace Bay patients, despite present problems and outlined plans for a new health facility. Mrs. Anne Todesco presided for the meeting with members answering the roll call with ar- ticles to be donated to Birchwood Terrace, dur -ing Senior Citizens week in Terrace Bay. The motto for the meeting was "Have poise without rigidity, sel f-training in tolerance and understanding in human sympathies." Among current events discussed were the local sewage system, coming summer tourist season, cost of gasoline, iron content in kett -les, apparently being unsafe for infants and older people. Mrs. Todesco said the recent penny auction was a great success and thanked those who had donated and worked. : Mrs. Todesco was appointed to attend the area convention in Emo on Sept. 5th and 6th. Mrs. Eunice Bolan gave an excellent report on the district meeting held in Thunder Bay in May. Mrs. W. Clemens gave an interesting account of the official opening of the Birchwood Terr- ace Home for the Aged in Terrace Bay on May 3Ist, with the Hon. Rene Brunelle and other dignataries attending. The attendance prize was won by Mrs. Mild- red Smith. A pot luck lunch ended the meeting - the jast until the Fall regular one. MRS. MORK VISITS SCHREIBER LODGE Mrs. Elsie Mork of Thunder Bay, p.D.P. of District 41, paid her official visit to Schre- iber Ruby Rebekah Lodge 2t their June meeting. She was welcomed by Mrs. Lil Harris, N.G..and Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, V.G. and escorted into the Lodge room by Mrs. Alice Farrow, P.N.G. of Terrace Bay. Also welcomed was Mrs. Mavis Slater, Past President of the: Rebekah Assembly escorted by Mrs. Mildred smith, P.N.G. A letter for appreciation was read from the canadian Cancer Society to the community for their generous response for a donation of 511° toward the purchase of lawn furniture of Amethyst House, from the Oddfellows and Reke: - ahs of Schreiber. Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, Mrs. Glorie Miller and Mrs. Mavis Slater will attend the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario in Toronto in June. Mrs. Hamilton, reporting for the sick-ard- visiting committee, stated they had purchased additional equipment, and urged members to sell the penny auction tickets for the event on June 28th. Mrs. Mork thanked the Lodge for her warm welcome & the encouragement she has received during her year as pistrict Pre -sident, praising the new members for the active part they are taking in Lodge work.
