Schreiber Detachment have a Singer sewing machine in their possession th- at apparently fell from an unknown vehicle ea- st of Terrace Bay on June 1/74. The owner may claim the article at the Detachment by proper- ly identifying same. A tourist from the United States reports that some unknown person removed 2 lawn chairs and a fishing rod and reel from his trailer while it was parked at Rainbow Falls Provinci- al Park. The rod and reel is described as a Mitchell 300 reel on a red rod. The chairs are aluminum tubing frame with green vinyl webbing. Anyone having information on the foregoing is requested to contact the OPP. On June 4, I%74, a C.P.I.C. computer check was made on an Ontario licence number by a mem -ber of the Schreiber Detachment. Seconds later, the information received indicated the vehicle had been stolen in Toronto on June 2nd. Three suspects were arrested in the auto and were charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Richard LEGAULT, I7 years, John REYNOLDS, I6 years and George LEFROY I7 years, all of Toronto were also charged with a second count of Possession when $2100.00 worth of auto parts were located in the trunk of the vehicle. This property had been removed from a Don Mills auto supply store. The three arr- ested subjects appeared in Thunder Bay Provin- cial Court (Criminal Div.) on the charges and are awaiting sentence. A number of Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Control Act charges were laid by detachment personnel 'during the past. week. Dominating the list were those under the Unnecessary Noi- se section of the HTA. Police are cracking down on those drivers who consistently squeal tires and blow horns during the late evening and early morning hours. Quoted hereunder is the section of the HTA dealing with unnecess- ary and unreasonable noise. Section 49 (3) States: "A person having the control or charge of a motor vehicle shall not sound any bell, horn or other signalling device so as to make an unreasonable noise, and an operator or chauffeur of any motor vehicle shall not permit any unreasonable am- ount of smoke to escape from the motor vehicle nor shall such operator or chauffeur at any time cause the motor vehicle to make any un- necessary noise, but this subsection does not apply to a motor vehicle of a municipal fire department while proceeding to a fire or an- swering a firm alarm call" The Highway Traffic Act provides for the owner of a vehicle being charged for this ~ K. TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS: At 6 p.m. on June 7, 1974, a vehicle driv- en by Terrence James ARMSTRONG of Schreiber was east bound on Hwy. I7, I.2 miles east of Whitesand Lake when it left the roadway on on the south side and struck a number of guide posts. There were no injuries sustain- ed in the accident and the vehicle was damag- ed in the estimated amount of $450.00. On June 9, I974, at 2:07 p.m. a westbound half ton pick-up truck towing a travel trail- er went out of control on a curve seven ten- ths of a mile east of the Detachment and rol- led over. The unit was driven by one.Flora Delia LYON of Onaway, Michigan. There was an estimated $175.00 damage to the truck and $2500.00 to the trailer. Both the driver and her husband Dale received bruises and other minor injuries in the collision.
