In the late afternoon a Hospitality Hour 'for Lake Superior High School staff was host- »d by Lakehead University Representatives at he home of Walter Klassen followed by a 7:00 y.m. general meeting at the Lake Superior Pub- lic School, Terrace Bay Campus, for all member s of the community interested in information and programs at Lakehead University. TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT This past week saw a total of 32 occurrenceq investigated by the Terrace Bay Police Depart- ment. One minor theft was reported from the Red Dog Inn. Two break ins were reported during the week, one being at the Recreation Centre and the other occuring at the Moose hall. An undisclosed amount of property and money was stolen. Police and telephone authorities are inves- tigating threatening phone calls being made against a local resident. During the week, three charges under the Liquor Control Act, and four Highway Traffic Act charges were laid. One domestic dispute was refereed. Thirteen motor vehicles were safety checked with I0 warnings issued. Appearing before his Honour Judge Mitchell and Donald Kostiuk who had previously pleaded not guilty to a charge of break, enter and theft and had elected trial by Judge and Jury. A preliminary hearing was held at the conclusion of which Kostiuk was committed for trial and the case against Gerlach dismissed. A warrant for the arrest of Brian Desauln- jers was issued when he failed to appear on a summons. A number of trials in absentia were heard on various fines levied. Mr. Robert Eaton of London, M.P.P. for Mid- dlesex South and executive assistant to the Ministry of Agricultural met with Schreiber Council and members of the local Progressive Conservative Association last week to discuss probelems pertinent to the distirct of Thunder Bay. One given lengthy consideration was the shipping problem both' in methods of delivery 'and charges. Mr. Eaton was accompanied by Ben Nelson of 'Jelicoe. He had also met with dignataries and citvi= zens of Terrace Bay at the Red Dog Inn on Thursday, April I8th. Mr. Eaton continued on to a meeting at the Experimental Farm in Thunder Bay. NOTICE Under the Forest Fires Prevention Act, The period from April 1 to October 31 in each year shall be a fire season. Fire pefmits are required in a fire district e for all outdoor burning except cooking or obtaining warmth e to ignite fireworks within 1000 feet of a forest or woodland. A work permit is required to conduct any operation which is liable to cause an accumulation of slash or debris within 1000 feet of a forest or woodland. No person shall smoke while walking or working in a forest or woodland. Fire permits may be obtained from local Ministry offices or township fire wardens. Ministry of Hon.
