PAGE IS8 TERRACE BAY NEWS APRIL IO, I974 HEARING BOARD MEETING The Ontario Environmental Hearing Board held a public meeting in the Schreiber town hall on April 4th to discuss the sewage treat- ment works planned for Schreiber, to enable the Board to obtain information and hear views expressed which would enable them to decide whether the proposed site would or would not be in the public interest. The meeting was chaired by John H. Root, MPP, Wellington-Dufferin. Others attending included David Morton, Harold Brown, Technical}' Adviser, Michael Latta, Project Engineer, all from the Ministry of Environment, Toronto. Also attending were R.E. Soper, technolo- gist, representing M.M. Dillon Firm of London and James Stasiuk, District Office, Ministry of the Environment. Few citizens attended, all others apparent- ly satisfied with the proposed site. Mr. Soper with a blueprint, described where the plant would be installed, and answ- ered the few questions asked. The municipal council were present and obviously gratified with the public's accept- ance of the proposed site. FASHION SHOW The Kinette Spring Fashion Show, convened by Brenda Birch, and attended by over 200 was an outstanding success this year. It was staged in the Lake Superior High School auditorium with Hudson's Bay providing clothes and accessories, and the door prize which was won by Mrs. Peter Costa. Diane Figliomeni was the commentator with 68 ensembles modelled, for spring and summer, including ladies, men's and children's wear, for dress, lounging, casual occasions and great variety of fun-in-the-sun numbers for travel, beach and swimming, and other sport activities. The models were Carol Ann Costa, Michael Beno, Cathy Graham, Steven Speziale, Mary Jo Ryan, Shane Riley, Susan Dimmery, Roxanne McLellan, Colleen Glad, Geraldine McColeman, Mary Swanson, Kaye Fraser, Mavis Slater, Beth Macadam and Neil Foot. Bob Turner was the stage manager and Kin- ettes working included Eva Gordon who selected the models, Delores Lee, lunch; Ruth Ann Birch advertising; Mary Anderson, tickets; Jackie Turner, music; Sandy Quentin, stage decorati- ons; and Joan Stewart, make-up. Coffee and cakes were served at the end of the program. ; POMER: The funeral of the late Mrs. Mime Pomer, whose death occurred on March 26th, in Brandon, was conducted on March 30th, in St. Andrew's United Church in Schreiber by the Rev. Peter McKague. Jack Gordon, nephew of the deceased, was the organist. Pall bearers were Bruce, Clayton and Clyde Gordon, (newphews of Mrs. Pomer) and Vic Costa Bill Miller and Kevin O'Brien. Interment was in the Schreiber cemetery. Mrs. Pomer's immediate survivors are two sons, Barry Partridge of Brandon and Russell Partridge of Winnipeg; three grandchildren, Kim, Craig and Kerinda Partridge, and three brothers - Alec and George of Schreiber; and Dr. Jack Gordon, of Minneapolis. There are also several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pomer, who was 59, was born in Schreiber, where she lived until I934 when she went to enter St. Joseph's School of Nurs- ing in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) remaining there until her marriage. With her husband, a salesman, she lived in several places in southern Ontario, until in I94I they went to Winnipeg. Mrs. Pomer rémained in Winnipeg until shortly before her death when she had gone to make her home with her son Barry in Brandon. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gordon, Thunder Bay; Mr. Steve Pomer, Winnipeg; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Gordon, Mr. and Mrs. William Miller and Mrs. F. Cruickshank, Terrace Bay.
