Vol. I7 No. I3 April 3, I974 20¢ Per Copy JUNIOR 'B' HOCKEY BANQUET Members of the Terrace Bay Superiors Junior B Hockey League were honoured at a dinner in the Community Church hall, prepared and served by the mothers of the boys. Head table guests included Hugh Hamilton, President of the Club, and Mrs. Hamilton, Mas- ter of Ceremonies Jim Figliomeni and Mrs. Figliomeni, Mr. and Mrs. George Dashkewytch, Mr. and Mrs. Les Kruger and Mr. Stan Zwaresh. Mrs. Dashkewytch gave the Toast to the Queen and said Grace. After a delicious smorgasbord had been en- joyed, President Hamilton made a few remarks, thanking the ladies who had prepared the dinner He expressed his thanks to Jimmy Figliomeni, who filled in as Master of Ceremonies in the absence of Jerry Dupas, Recreation Director, who was unable to be there. He also thanked his wife, Marge, the secretary-treasurer- Mrs. Dashkewytch, Stan Zwaresh, who had been in charge of transportation, Les Kruger, the stat- istician, and George Dashkewytch, Jr. who had done an excellent job. Presentation of Trophies took place, with Hugh Hamilton presenting the trophy to Coach George Dashkewytch, Jr. Rick Hamilton won the prize for high scorer, presented by Les Kruger. Best Defenceman was Paul Malashewski, Jr., pre- sented by Stan Zwaresh. The Most Diligent player was named John Molinski, who was unable "to be there. ; The Most Valuable Player trophy went to Rick Hamilton, presented by George Dashkewytch, Sr. Most Improved Player -- Patrick Heenan, present- ed by Hugh Hamilton. Presentation of gifts followed for services renendered through the year. continued page 2 TERRACE BAY COUNCIL QUOTES Terrace Bay Town Council met on Tuesday with Reeve Bray presiding and all Councillors present. Minutes were adopted as read. Correspondence included an acknowledgement from the Ministry of Solicitor General - P.E. Werk re Peacetime Emergency Plan. A notice of an annual meeting for A.M.E.U. District 3, April I6-I7, in Thunder Bay was received. A letter from the Board of Governors of McCausland Hospital requesting financial aid for capital assistance was received. The Schreiber Council will be contacted on this matter. The Ministry of Social Services advised of the results of the election to the Child Wel- fare Budget Board. Terrace Bay Council appro- ved application made by the Manitouwadge Im- provement District to District Judge to have the determination of members of the Lake Sup- erior Board of Education Separate School Trustees set aside, and a new determination to be made in accordance with the Secondary School Board of Education Act. The effect of such an application will have the Separate School Trustees elected within their own mun- icipality, instead of having the four members elected at large.
