SARAH BOYD BURIED IN TERRACE BAY Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Boyd, who passed away in McCausland Hospital on March 26th, were held in the Community Church on Friday, March 29th at 2 p.m. Rev. Peter McKague officiated with Mrs. Ellen Hodgkiss at the organ. Three hymns were sung - "The 0ld Rugged . Cross," "Tell Me the 01d 01d Story", and "The Twenty-third Psalm". i Mrs. Boyd, in her 67th year, was born in Belfast Ireland. She came to Canada in I954 and has resided in Terrace Bay since that time She was a member of the Ruby Rebekah Lodge No. 279 Schreiber and a life member of Silver Birch Chapter of the Eastern Star 264, Terr- ace Bay. Survived by her husband Samuel; two sons, Samuel Jr. of Terrace Bay and Alexander of Murrillo; three daughters, Elizabeth, Mrs. R.C Harris of Terrace Bay; Mrs. J.E. Moates, Mrs. M.J. Clark both of Belfast Ireland; one sister Mrs. M.J. Wilson, three step sisters, Mrs. J. Godfrey, Mrs. S. McCosker, and Mrs. D. Jamieson, Belfast Ireland; also by I6 grand- children and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Todd in I9I4 and 1939; two brothers James and Robert Todd. Two Memorial Services were held Thursday evening at the McNally Funeral Home by the Ruby Rebekah Lodge and Silver Birch Chapter. Active pall bearers were Bob McMillan, Bob Daly, Sonny Helmink, Brian Gavin, Samuel Harris (grandson) and Samuel Boyd (grandson). Honourary pall bearers were Bob Wallwin, John Graham, John Mikus, Ab Farrow, Pat Jones and Bill Megraw. Interment was in Terrace Bay Cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the service included: Mr. and Mrs. Brian Gavin Sault Ste. Marie; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Boyd and' Alex Jr., Mr. Samuel Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Livesey, Thunder Bay; Valarie Boyd and Bob Daly, Toronto; Bob McMillan, Red Rock NOTICE TO SCHREIBER RESIDENTS Due to the Easter Holiday, garbage pick- up will be on APRIL 11th for Commercial and APRIL 16th for residents. R.T. Yates, Ministry of Environment SKI CLUB NEWS . The Terrace Bay Ski Club racing program came to an end for this season with the Club Championship event held March 23rd and 24th. Carol Moore, Leigh Ann McBride, Bill Megraw Jr., and Robert Vanderkam made a clean sweep of the Junior Girls, Intermediate Girls, In- termediate Boys and Senior Mens divisions res- pectively by winning the slalom, down hill and combined events. In the Junior Boys division, Russell McBride won the slalom event and George Moore won the down hill event with George Moore emerging on the overall combined winner. Ribbons were presented to the winners by club president, Cy Pyke. While ski racing is over for this season, the hill remains in good shape and it looks like we may enjoy some fine spring skiing!!! responsibility in the area of adult programs. NOT. 1CE Persons interested in serving on the - Terrace Bay Recreation Committee are asked to submit their names to the undersigned by 5:00 P.M., APRIL 9th, I974. The newly appointed person will have W. Hanley, Clerk-Treasurer Township of Terrace Bay SAILING SCHOOL Last summer it was four truck-trailer com- binations and this year it will be six mobile sailing school units that the Ontario Sailing Association hopes to have on the road. The four trucks travelled throughout Ontar- io last summer in the months of June, July and August. There are five Petrels in each unit along with a crash boat and instructor aids. The unit also provides accommodation for the in- structors. Last year the schools required an attend- ance of at least 60 but this year the figure has been cut to 45. The class will provide five avs. of basic sailing instruction in any community that can guarantee full classes. 'The season this year will be slightly long- er, running from mid May to mid September. The fee has been raised slightly to $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for students. This will pay for I5 hours of instruction with more time in continued page I5 .......
