MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT | Me. and Mus. James Armstrong of Schreiber, Ontario are pleased Lo announce the mariage 04 their eldest daughter Deborah Lynn to Mr. Michael Gordon McNabb eldest son of Mr. and Mus. Gordon McNabb of Thunder Bay, on Satur- day, November 24th in Trinity Angelican Church Marathon officiated by Rev. Arthur L. Chabot. MEDICAL CENTRE At this time, when despite party loyalty, people will not attend a public political meet -ing, Schreiber's Reeve, H.J. McParland and his council, were gratified indeed with the representative number of citizens which attend- ed the meeting on November 26th to discuss the proposed medical health centre. Councillors N.A. McCuaig, J.S. Caccamo, H.H. Fischer, and R.A. Krause, spoke following the Reeve's address, and even they seemed to have differing opinions. Plans of the centre were distributed for the audience to study. Dr. M. Spacik also spoke, making the point + with which the audience completely agreed, that quarters must be available for a dispens- ing pharmacist - not, it was agreed, .the usual drug store, with many other commodities. The plan showed doctor's office, dentist office, optomitrist's office, Board of Health office. Council stated their financial position was sound, despite expenditures expected. The vote to have the centre in the middle of the town, rather than in the south end, as origin- ally considered, was practically unanimous, as was the vote to proceed with the building of the centre. The open discussion began with the formal address to the chair but soon changed to Schreiber's usual informal fashion, with live- ly exchanges of opinion, and, the customary baiting of the council expected by them and dealt with in like good humour. G.A. cwanson, C.P. Rail Supt. also spoke briefly giving his personal encouragement, add- ing the CPR were well-aware of the doughty in- dependent spirit of Schreiber townspeople, mak- ing their town a place where their employees were happy to live, and, in many cases, remain on in their retirement.
