SUNDAY SCHOOL - 10:00 A.M, All children invited to attend, w% LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor: I am a member of the Military Collectors' Club of Canada and the Canadian Aviation Historical Society, .and have as two of my projects the responsibility of collecting both written in- formation and photographs relative to the foll- owing topics: The Prisoner-of-war camps located in North- ern Ontario (World War Two Era) Canadian Aviation as it applies to the north erations, and military aircraft development - the former applicable to the whole of north- western Ontario, the latter as it applies to the local Canadian Car & Foundry Co. Ltd. =- 1939-1945). It is a well-known fact that both Angler and Neys wete rather well-established detention camps, but to date I have found information relative to the above rather sketchy in detail. The same applies to early aviation = there are a few photos available but little else. I am writing this letter in the hope that you will publish the following appeal in the Terr- ace Bay News. : 'I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who might have either written informa- tion (or still to be recorded facts!) or photo- graphs dealing with the prisoner of war camps or aviation pictures of early aircraft which serviced the northern communities along the north shore of Lake Superior. Similarly - I would like to contact people with artifacts as retreived from either Angler or Neys. By this I refer to hand-carved ship- models, walking sticks, drawing of camp life, cigarette boxes, and similar items ...... I would like to point out that I am trying to record the history of aviation in northern Ontario and of the prisoner of war camps be- fore the material items find their way to the municipal dumps and the memories of events fade away forever.
