4 OCTOBER 3I, I973 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE I3 You're right! I've never seen a better reading. SCHREIBER KINETTES HOST MEETING The Schreiber Club hosted the Zone 4 Kin- ettes meeting, with the following officers attending: Carole Gibbon, district co-ordin- ator; Jeam Helliwell, Hill City president; Diane Valasore, Fort City president and Linda 1liott, Nip-Rock president; with Edythe Cosgrove, Schreiber president. Following a cocktail hour in the town hall the group went on to the United Church hall for dinner and returned to the hall for their meeting and program. The evening began with 'a farcical skit, when Kinsmen in widly improbable attire imper- sonated Kinettes seeking election as officers. These gauche models were introduced by Brenda Birch who described their ensembles and Betty Ann Klassen interviewed, eliciting some stran- ge ideas of their knowledge of the office they were seeking. Judges Janet Beitz, Betty Hutton and Maur- een Kusk awarded the prize to Stepanie Steno, a would-be secretary. : ' Bruce Gordon, Kinsmen deputy governor, pres sented a crown and somewhat bedgralled bouquet and obviously taken aback when he was seized and passed down the line of models, enthusias- tically embraced and soundly bussed! The skit was planned by Pat Moore and Doug Moore provided background music. In her address, Carole Gibbon spoke on the meaning of Kin, its objectives and the import-, ance to each Kinette in not just being a mem- ber but becoming actively involved in the work; the benefits accruing in developing lasting friendships and the personal satisfaction in being part of worthwhile projects which are not only local, but national and on occasion, international. She described at length the mighty effort being expanded on the program planned for the national convention 'Red River Days' in Winnipeg, Aug. 2I-24, and the ways in which other clubs can assist in many ways. At the conclusion of her speech she present -ed a small table banner to Schreiber presi- dent, signifying that during her term of off- ice she has visited this club. During the evening Ruth Ann Birch and Mary Speziale ran many draws, with attractive priz- es and the usual fines were levied for amusing reasons.
