SEPTEMBER I2, I973 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 WESTLAKE-BENKO VOWS EXCHANGED Photo by Frank Commisso Wedding vows were exchanged between Marilyn Rose Benko and Larry Alan Westlake, before Rev. Peter McKague, on Saturday afternoon, August IIth at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Church, in a double ring ceremony. Pink and white Peonies and blue Delphinium graced the Altar and satin bows marked the guest pews. Mrs. M. Simmer was at the organ. Marilyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Benko of Terrace Bay and Larry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Westlake, of Whitby, Ont. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in a floor length white gown with Chapel train of Cluny lace, the gown was fash- ioned in Pinafore style, featuring a high Victorian neckline and Bishop sleeves. The elbow length three tiered French Illusion veil was held by a Juliet cap of matching Cluny lace. She carried a white Bible, a gift from the groom, centred with a mauve orchid arrange- ment. P The Maid of Honour was Marilyn's sister, Valerie. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Joyce Hanson, sister of the groom, Mrs. Lydia Westlake and Mrs. Nancy Doctzel. The flower girl was Susan Bold. The attendants were all gowned alike in Sunshine yellow Polyester crepe, floor length with long full sleeves, gathered at the waist with Princess lines, Empire waist-line and square neckline. The neckline and waist weré adorned with tiny white Daisy chain centered with mauve. Valerie wore a white floppy brim hat, the other attendants yellow floppy brim hats. Each carried a white basket filled with yellow, mauve and white mums. The best man was the groom's brother, David Westlake. Ushers were Steve Hanson, Gerry Willard and Ken Doctzel. For a dinner reception at the Moose Hall, Mrs. Benko received, wearing a floor length mauve Fortrel gown in A line, short sleeves, with a high slit neckline. She wore a pink corsage. Mrs. Westlake also received, wearing a floor length bright pink Fortrel gown, "with a white corsage. The Toast to the Bride was given by her uncle, Mr. A. Scaverelli, of Thunder Bay. Minnie Woodruff was Dining Room Hostess and Hugh Brophy was Master of Ceremonies. Cheryl and Shelley Yarima circulated the Guest Book. For travelling to Ottawa, the bride donned a blue and white checked Fortrel two piece ensemble, the dress featuring a solid blue sleeveless top flared checked skirt with match -ing fitted jacket and a yellow rose corsage. Prior to her wedding, Marilyn was the guest of honour at two showers, one at Orono, hostes -ses Barbara and Donna Cockrane, and the other at the Moose Hall, Terrace Bay, hosted by Mes- dames M. Woodruff, A. Pelto, A. Daley, J. Roberts, S. Sadowick, G. Salesse and A. Szpak. At this shower, she was assisted in opening her gifts by Gail Gould and Carol Daley. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. J. Westlake, Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Russ Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Pennfound Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mesher, Nancy and Neil, Mr. and Mrs. David Westlake, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mrs. Hanson, all of Whitby, Ont.; Mr. and Mrs. G. Willard, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. G. Bold and Susan, Sault Ste. Marie; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Benko, Graham and others from Thunder Bay. Marilyn and Larry will reside at 65B Emmett St., Weston, Ontario.
