AUGUST 29, 1973 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 7 HOSPITAL BOARD MEETING The McCausland Hospital Board of Governors held a regular monthly meeting on August 2Ist, I973. Don Stewart resigned as Chairman of the Development Committee but will remain on the committee. Frank Anderson accepted the posit- ion of Chairman of this committee which is attempting to define the program for an improv- ement to our present facility. Board members and Administrator will attend a meeting of area hospitals in Marathon to dis- cuss a proposed District Health Council. The Area Planning Co-Ordinator from the Ministry of Health will also be at this meeting. Don Beno, Pat Buck, Rena McAdam and Vic Mazzone will atend the Small Hospital Confer- ence in Sault Ste. Marie on September 5, I973. Accounts for July in the amount of $26,130. 83 were passed for payment. Rena McAdam, President of the Board, review- ed the duties and responsibilities of Board membership and urged the Standing Committees to evaluate their progress toward stated objectiv- es for the year. V. Mazzone reported that the hospital had received visits from the Fire Safety Consultant and the Administration Consultant of the Minis- try of Health. Nursing staff will be attending a joint hospital in-service education program at Wilson Memorial General Hospital in Marathon on October 3rd and 4th. Barry Stephen pre- sented the quarterly budget report which show- ed that operating costs are within the budget, patient days are higher than budgeted. Under new business, a resolution was pass- ed to allow visiting hours in the Childrerd's Ward from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. effective September I, I973. A separate press release will be placed in the newspaper next week regarding this new hospital policy. Rena McAdam read a letter from Mrs. Mary Costa, Schreiber concerning certain hospital policies. The Administrator had already met with Mrs. Costa to discuss the contents of the letter and a written reply from the Board will be sent shortly. A resolution was passed to write-off $593.60 of accounts receivable which were " deemed to be uncollectable. Many of these accounts were from outside the area but there were some from local residents who have chos- en to ignore the many requests for payment from the hospital office. : The next regular meeting is scheduled for September I8, I973 in Schreiber. The meeting was adjourned at I0:35 p.m. POLICE DEPARTMENT AUGUST REPORT Police investigated a total of 62 occurren- ces during the month of August. A number of minor thefts of clothing and bicycles were reported - the clothing consist- ing of ladies bathing suits from clothes lin- es. One attempted Break and Enter at the Golf Club was reported - nothing being stolen. An outbreak of accidents occurred:during the month with five being reportable.
