However, it should be in next week's Terrace Bay News. CANADA DAY IN TERRACE BAY Canada Day in Terrace Bay was cellebrated in a great round of activities for young and old. On Friday night a Canada Day Adult dance took place in the Moose Hall with Music supp- lied by the Rhythm Kings. On Saturday at 1:30 the children's foot races were held at the Athletic Field. On Saturday night, a Youth Dan- ce was held at the Memorial Arena, music by "Black Lightning." Sunday, July lst, the wea- ther man co-operated and a cycling event was held for anyone 14 years and up. Joe Desaulnier was awarded the "Reeve's Trophy" for covering the distance in 28.47 minutes. Reeve Roy Bray made the presentation at the "Beer Gardens", Sunday afternoon. Runners-up were Ed Angus, Robert Vanderkam and Charles Wise. In the Ladies race, Dawn Desaulniers came in first, Susan Barnett, second and Carolyn Vander: -kam third with Mrs. Lorraine Desaulniers gett- ing an honourable mention. An Ecumenical Service was held in the Memor- ial Arena, with almost I00 people in attendance This was sponsored by the parishioners of St. Martin's and the Community Church. Sponsors of this event were the Volunteer Fire Dept. and, they did an excellent job. Tables and chairs were placed so that everyone might sit around, visit with their friends, sip on a beer and en- joy the music of the Terrace Bay band. Costume judging for children was done by Mrs. G. Soughton, Mrs. S. Brown and D. Rafal- ant. First consideration was given to those best representing Canada and also those de- signed and made by the children themselves. Winners - 10 years and under - designed and made their own costumes: First - Lise Helmink, Second and Third - Tom and Roseanne Cvitkovich. Children - 11 and 12 yrs - designed and made by themselves: First - Leslie McBride, Second - Cheryl Moore and third - Susan Barnett. Other Costumes - Family Prizes - First - Wise family, Second - McBride family. 6-8 years: First = Sabrina Burhmann, Second - Maureen Caldwell, Third - Debbie and Edward Wise. 9-12 years - First - Robin Helmink, Second - Ann Helmink.
