Terri-Lynn Birch welcomed a audience and Michael O'Niel gave the tory followed by the presentation of awards; pins by Rev. Dye and Mr. T. Quinton; certifi- cates by Mr. A.S. Gordon and Mr. R.A. Cressman. The Womens Institute Award was presented to Terri Morris by Mrs. W. Clemens; the D.R.A. Cressman award to David Richardson by Mr. Cres- sman; Mr. A.S. Gordon, Chairman of the Lake Superior Board of Education, congratulated the staff and graduates wishing them well. Betty-Ann McCanna introduced the guest speaker, Mr. W. Klassen, who described this occassion as an opening to the graduates with many adjustments to be made and greater respon- sibilities accepted. Mrs. R. Mulligan, Princi- pal of Lake Superior High School, offered the formal welcome to the graduates. An amusing interlude during the programme were several presentations by Mr. D. Robertson of the staff: a trophy to Terri-Lynn Birch for being the best sport on a recent canoe trip; a small jar of sugar to Mrs. Jan McEwen to re- plenish her seemingly inexhaustable supply; a special sample of native ore to David Courtney; a huge ball of string to Mike Reid to be at- tached to the school when he leaves with the next outing party and to Tom Quinton, a speci- ally designed paddle of extraordinary size suitable engraved, with which it is hoped he? can both cast a line and share the paddling. The closing remarks by Mr. Cressman noted with appreciation with a large number attending the ceremonies and Rev. Mrs. Brian Stewart (nee Pat Murphy) and her daughters, Julie Ann and Laura Lee, of Duncan B.C. are visiting Pat's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Murphy and Mr. and Mrs. Rene Lamoureaux her sister, Sharon. Mr. and Mrs. Cosimo Figliomeni and family of Toledo, Ohio are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Figliomeni, Cos' parents, and his broth- ers Jimmy and Joe and their families.
