Mrs. Harris reported cards and flowers giv- en to ill members in hospital and at home. Election of officers for the next term as follows: N.G.-Elizabeth Harris; Rec. Secretary- Beth Macadam; Financial Sec.-Helen Wallace PDDP Treasurer-Mrs. Bern Whent; Trustee-Gladys Hamilton. A Bring and Buy sale will be held following the next regular meeting. All members bring an article of baking or other item to be sold. ONTARIO HYDRO APPROVES NEW SCHREIBER RATES Schreiber Hydro Chairman Gino Caccamo to- day announced that Ontario Hydro has approv- ed a new rate schedule for utility customers. The new rates, which will be effective on all bills issued on or after July I, I973, provide for an average increase of II.8%. Mr. Caccamo said that as he had indicated earlier in May, continuing inflation and the increasing cost of power purchased from Ontar- io Hydro had made the rate change necessary. "These adjustments", he added, "will en- able us to maintain a reasonable financial position in the current year and provide for the growing electrical needs of the commun- ity." Customers will be billed at the new rates for energy taken starting in June 1973. The minimum bill will now be $3.50 instead of $2.50 AUXILIARY CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY The Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch I09, celebrated its 26th Anni- versary with a dinner, planned and served by the Branch. The Toast to the Queen was given by Mrs. Georgina Davis, immediate past president, with Jean Crook, vice president saying Grace. The members and their guests toasted the anniversary in song. Mrs. Barbara Ann McLaugh -lin, welcomed Mrs. Paxson, district represen- tative, presenting her with a corsage, and the 25 members of the Terrace Bay Legion Auxil- iary who attended. Mrs. Paxson pinned at 25 year membership pin on Mrs. Margaret Handel. Mrs. Jeannette Gunter, Terrace Bay presi- dent, presented an amusing kitchen maid gift in token of their good wishes. Mrs. Paxson enlarged on the necessity for | aid to Caribean War Veterans, saying she 'was pleased Schreiber had donated. She also said that although rules stated one visit during two years would suffice for a representative to the various auxiliaries she felt more frequent ones would be a great advantage. Mrs. McLaughlin thanked the members for their support. Mrs. Beth Macadam proudly announced a show- ing of summer millinery which, designed by the models who wore them, wear, if not the latest in hats, certainly were 'far-out'! roundly applauded were Pat Moore, Jean Crook, Gail Welbourne, Gerry McColeman and Georgina Davis. Among the 25 Terrace Bay guests were Jean- nette Gunter, president; Stella Gusul, first vice present; Dot Coupal, past president and Joyce Mercier, warden.
