PAGE I0 TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY; 9, 1973 Ladies Keep-Fit Classes Start May IOth: All those who registered for the keep-fit classes are reminded that the first session will be held at 7:00 p.m. this Thursday, May I0th at the Terrace Bay Campus Auditorium. Each registrant has been called by the Recreation Office covering details such as clothing, registration, etc. It should be pointed out that the keep-fit classes will be structured so that some variety such as volleyball and folk dancing will be offered in the programme. The keep-fit classes will be composed of six sessions lasting roughly two hours each. Instructor for the course is Sue Bulawka. Although it is used as a recreational conveyance it is a vehicle within the means of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. "Each year, many children take an untimely ride and a quick rendezvous with death because the bicycle they were riding was being used as a toy. : As you are probably aware, the Ontario Pro- 3 vincial Police carry out an extensive safety program in elementary and secondary schools * The Junior Badminton Tournament held this past Saturday was a huge success. Tennis: A reminder to tennis enthusiasts that keys are available from the Recreation Office at $1.00 each which is refundable when the key is returned. We ask that players using this facility re- port any damage to the Recreation Office. If the present key system does not work, then a new more restrictive system will be enforced. BOWLING ASSOCIATION "INVITATIONAL" The Terrace Bay Bowling Association hosted an "Invitational" Tournament on Sunday, May 6th, with ten teams from the Legion and Moose Bowling Leagues, Red Rock and Marathon and the Terrace Bay Bowling Association competing for top place in a four game, no handicap series. Romping into the lead early in the compe- tition Moose Team #I, captained by Bill Kurylo; with Marion Reid, Stu Reid, Myra Smilsky, Frank Sechesky and Doreen Kurylo; captured first prize with a total pin-fall of 4403. Second prize went to Terrace Bay Bowling Association #4, Cosimo Commisso, captain; with a score of 4283. Team members were: Margaret Hartmann, Ev Boutilier, Jean Tremblay, Jim Figliomeni and Paul Buso. Individual prizes went to: Jean Tremblay - ladies high single 286; Joe Figliomeni - Men's high single 294; Marion Reid - ladies high four 953 (207-250-249-247); and Bill Kurylo - Men's high four 970 (22I1-233-227-289). The tournament committee would like to ex- tend its thanks to the many people who assisted across the Province in an effort to teach safe | bicycling habits and to instill a sense of responsibility in the minds of these young drivers when operating these vehicles on roads 1 and highways. However, this can only be 1 accomplished with the assistance of the adult population. A bicycle, like an automobile, should be checked regularly to be sure it is mechanically fit.
