MAY 9, I973 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE © LADIES AUXILIARY TO LEGION 223 It was very pleasing to see such a good attendance of ladies at our first meeting in the new legion. Following the opening, minutes and old bus- iness two new members, Dannille Salesse and Barbara Wise were welcomed into the auxiliary. It was decided that the $50.00 food voucher would be drawn on Friday, the IIth of May. A home bingo is now in progress. -Due to circumstances no one was able to attend the zone meeting held at the Artona Legion in Thunder Bay. It was decided to donate old dishes etc. from the old legion to the Boy Scouts. A letter te this effect will be sent out. During the course of the meeting a baby gift was presented to Julie Rattray. Jessie Dodge volunteered to pickle eggs and Dodie Bougie offered to make flowers to help along with' money making projects. Jean Megraw has been handling the sale of hockey pools and doing well. A filing cabinet was donated to the auxil- iary by Joan Young. Anne Latour donated one dozen tea towels to the kitchen. A motion was passed to pay for the gas when the ladies in the kitchen committee made their trip to Thunder Bay to purchase kitchen equipment. Approximately twenty-four women will attend the Schreiber Auxiliary birthday party on May 26th. The men requested that the womens auxiliary purchase curtain material and dress up the windows. This was agreed. There was a good show of hands for a clean up committee. Volunteers will be con- tacted by phone. Coming events - Penny Auction in June, conveners - Audrey Smith, and Freda Boucher. Fathers Day tea - conveners - Betty Randa, Dor -othy Koski and Joyce Mercier. GUIDES AND BROWNIES ASSOCIATION MEETING The monthly meeting for the Local Associd- tion to Guides and Brownies was held April 23, 1973. The meeting opened with the Guide prayer chaired by president, Mrs. G. Moore with twelve members present. One new mem- ber was welcomed. Guide leaders are desperately needed! Children cannot receive their badges unless they have a signed badge slip. The annual Guide and Brownie Bake Sale was a tremendous success. A special thank you is extended to everyone who donated baking or: helped in any way. Mrs. V. Kostiuk and her committee are commended for a job well done. Cookie day was held May 4th. Thank you to everyone who co-operated with the Guides and Brownies, Mrs. A. McKie and her helpers in making Cookie Day a success. The meeting was adjourned and a lovely lunch was served. RECREATION NEWS Summer Staff Required: A reminder to qualifed students and adults that the Terrace Bay Recreation Department is presently accepting written applications for the various jobs as outlined in the full page advertisement in last weeks News. If you would like to know more about the fourteen (I4) summer jobs available call the Recreation Office at 3542. More information is also available on the bulletin board of the Recreation Centre.
