The resignation of Mr. Carl van Eeden, Bus- iness Admistrator, effective May 3I, I973 was accepted with regret. The Board approved the appointment of Mrs. R.A. Mulligan as Principal of Lake Superior High School, effective July I, I973, at salary according to schedule. Mr. Avadis Tchivian has been appointed to the teaching staff of Marathon Public School, for the period March 26, I973 to June 30,1973 at salary according to schedule. The allotment of four days, for the period January to June, I973, to the elementary schools as non=-instructional days will be as follows:-June 26th-29th inclusive- for evalua- tion and curriculum development. The modified school year for 1973-74 will be a minimum of I85 instructional days in each school. Trustees Autio, Coe and Dettbarn reviewed briefly progress on establishment of Aims and Objectives, and copies of findings were dis- tributed to the trustees. A meeting to consolidate the Aims and Ob- jectives into a "white paper" for presentation to the Board at its next meeting will be held in the Marathon Education Centre, 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25th, I973. Trustees Autio, Coe and Dettbarn and the Director of Education are asked to attend to this. No representative from the Board will attend the 0.I.S.E.-0.S.T.C. Spring Conference this June. The Board opposed The Essex County Board of Education Resolution regarding attendance at school, and a letter to this effect will be forwarded to The Essex County Board of Education and The Ministry, and The Board supported The Atikokan Board of Education in its stand on location of Toronto held 0.S.T.C. conferences and that 0.S.T.C. be advised accordingly. The Board will continue with its study re Drop-Outs according to the Drop-Out proposal. The resignation effective August 3Ist, I973 of Mr. E.J. Morgan, who is retiring after an educational career of 4I years was accepted with regret. The Board thanks Mr. Morgan for his excell- ent services and wishes him and Mrs. Morgan all the best in the future. Trustee, E. Autio, reported on a meeting of the Planning Committee held April 3rd,I973 at which it was decided to press for an addition to Stevens Avenue Campus, Marathon. Trustee, G. Fairservice, reported on pro- gress to date for the I973 budget. Expendi- tures were fairly well finalized. As soon as revenue has been calculated, a special meet- ing of the Board will be held to adopt the budget. It is planned to present.a brief on ceilings and weighting factors for I974 to The Hon.T.
