Miss Agnes Damps-Marathon High School, Mrs. Jean Morgan-Marathon Public School and the resignation of Mrs. Hilda White (half-time) from the staff of the Marathon Public School effective the end of this school year. The Board confirmed the action taken by the Director of Education in declaring the following as surplus to its needs for the school year 1973-74: Miss Dawn Clarke,Manitouwadge High School, Mr. Paul Deol-Marathon High School, Mrs. Jean Connor-Marathon High School. An Ad Hoc committee composed of one trustee from Manitouwadge, one from Marathon, one from Schreiber-Terrace Bay and the Director of Education be formed to examine the applications and qualifications and conduct interviews with the two local applicants for the Lake Superior High School Principalship, and make a selection recommendation to the Board at the April meet- ing. The committee will be composed of: Trustee, E. Autio; Trustee, M. Dettbarn; Trus- ment in an estimated amount of $4,500.00 was approved. Mrs. M. Averill gave a very interesting , oral, visual and written presentation upon special education in the division, explaining the role of the Special Education Consultant, types and uses of assessment procedures, pre- ventive, developmental and prescriptive teach- ing, special programmes, special classes, the reading programme, in-service training, the special education resource centre, research, establishing programmes, special services and outside resources, and some of our problems. Mrs. Averill was assisted by Mrs. Joy Bott of Marathon. The Activity Program in the Marathon and Manitouwadge Public Schools, has been extended by one half day per week between now and the end of the school year. Mr. H.J. Boudreau will attend the 0.P.S.T.A -0.5.S.T.A. Conference on Non-Academic Labour Relations being held in Thunder Bay in April. The Board will support the Lambton County Board of Education 'Motion' concerning their recommendations relating to the imposition of sanctions by teachers during negotiations, and that a letter be sent to The Ontario School Trustees' Council, informing them of our sup- port. The Policy re Board meetings was amended to read: Item 2. Saturdays--commencing at I0:00 a.m. with one hour luncheon at I2:30 p.m. Item 4.
