I6 No, TT March 2I, I973 I5¢ Per Copy SCHREIBER COUNCIL QUOTES Mrs. Dorothy Rummery read a detailed and interesting report submitted by the McCausland Hospital Board, on which she is Schreiber's representative, at the meeting of Schreiber Municipal Council on February 28th. A protest from irate ratepayers concerning a chicken farm within the town limits was read and given considerable discussion but action depends on decisions of the Board of Health and the Department of Agriculture, whose advice will be asked. Councillor Robert Krause reported on estim- ates on cost of loaders and said he will have further information at the next meeting. Road Supt., Edmond Borutski, was assured he has authority over the men working in his department. It was decided to purchase the present cemetery ground and additional adjoining pro- perty from the C.P.R. Councillors Krause and Fischer were appoin- ted to study the latest information supplied by D.A. Manahan regarding zoning and sub- division control within the township. The recently-formed Schreiber-Terrace Bay Search and Rescue Unit sent information of their plans and an invitation to meet with their executive. Council gratefully endorsed their action in organizing the organization and will meet with their officers. The minutes of the Recreation Committee and evaluation of part-time co-ordinators were read and councillor McCuaig, who had attended a committee meeting reported their attendance was regular and interest sustained. Barnett gave the Police Report. Correspondence included advice from the Re- gional Administrator of the Childrens Aid So- ciety of those elected members of the Child Welfare Board for 1973. Kimberly-Clark of Canada advised council that the electrical storage area in the South Camp will no longer be available after June 30th, and requested that any material there be re-located. The Township of Marathon submitted two re- solutions with respect to Birchwood Terrace Senior Citizens Home, one objecting to parti- cipation by municipalities in payment of capi- tal costs for renovations of the home. They feel they have no obligation to assume this financial responsibility. The second resolu- tion dealt with the suggestion that the Board of Management, District Homes for the Aged, be elected by the Municipalities in the dist- rict, and should be members of Councils or Boards of Trustees., as opposed to the present policy of direct appointment by the Government in power. This resolution had the unanimous support of the Terrace Bay Council. Ontario Hydro will hold a Marketing Con- ference in Thunder Bay on March 29 and 30th. J. Hale and Clerk Hanley were authorized to attend this conference. Council received a financial report and minutes of the meeting in Thunder Bay on Feb- ruary 23rd, of the Thunder Bay District Muni- cipal League.
