Rad PAGE 18 TERRACE BAY NEWS FEBRUARY I4, I973 Legion Auxiliary =- cont'd Correspondence, read by Mrs. Beatrice McCu- aig, included thank you notes from McCausland Hospital for equipment donated and from Pro- vincial Council for donation made to the Vet- erans' Christmas tree in Winnipeg. They also noted the date for the convention being held in Kenora on June 3-6, suggesting that resolutions to be presented be prepared well in advance of the event. Information was received on Charter flights for overseas now being organized. Mrs. Jean Crook reported sending cards for various occasions and flowers to two sick mem- bers. Mrs. Barbara Smart reported the weekly bingos continue to be successful and Mrs. Ethel Nesbitt said the ticket draws are doing well. Mrs. Georgina Davis reported the visiting curlers in the Legion zone bonspiel had greatly enjoyed the dinner served and the social even- ing which followed. She suggested a menu for the supper follow- ing the Branch's annual Sweetheart Bonspiel on February I6th. The Auxiliary birthday party was planned for May I9th. Mrs. Beth Macadam, Mrs. Margaret Spillane and Mrs. Chris Morris volunteered to assist at the Penny Auction scheduled for May IIth. in the town hall. It was decided that in future groceries for the Saturday kitchen project will be purchased rather than donated. Members will be asked to cook some of the dishes at home. It was suggested that stickers signifying years of membership be purchased to add on membership cards and further information on price of these will be asked. Regular meeting nights will be advertised on the Kinette Calendar throughout the year. Mrs. Barbara McLaughlin presided for the meeting, attended by twenty-three and the fin- ancial statement was accepted as read by Mrs. Pat Moore. Mesdames Bern Whent, Bobbie Winters, Myrtle Zaporzan and Gretchen Smith are named hostesses for the March meeting. U.C.W. MEETING Plans were completed for the bake sale and delicatessan on February I7th by the Schreiber United Church Women at their regular meeting on February 7th, with Mrs. W.T. Dukes presiding. It was agreed to cater for a luncheon April I3th, and a wedding dinner in late Spring. A lunch committee was formed to serve at the coffee party following the morning service on February II when Rev. Hugh McDonald of Thunder Bay will be the guest speaker. It was noted Rev. Paul Scrutton of Thynder Bay will speak at the February 25th service. Mrs. R.G. Macadam, for the official board thanked the UCW for its recent generous dona- tion. She stated redecorating has been done in the new manse, also, that the Cambrian pres- bytery meeting will be held February 23-25 in Thunder Bay. Mrs. Dukes reported the choir room, utility room and storage shelves have been cleaned, thanking the members who accomplished this task McCausland Hospital Board sent a letter of appreciation for a donation received. Wayside Centre also wrote thanking the UCW for a Christmas donation. Plans were made to col- lect articles for a box which will be sent to Wayside Centre, Thunder Bay. Space was purchased on the local Kinette Calendar. 4 Ld It was noted the World Day of Prayer service will be held in the United Church this year on March second with plans for the program to be made later. In the absence of Mrs. Bill Thrower, Mrs. John Spillane acted as treasurer, also volun- teering to replace Mrs. Della Moore, who is ill, as card secretary, until she recovers. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. T.P. Whent and adopted as was the fin- ancial statement. Members were shocked and sorry to hear the lengthy list of Schreiber people ill, both at home and in different hospitals. Following the meeting Russell Macadam show- ed four very interesting films =- Lake Superior Scrapbook, Medical Care of Native People in the far Canadian North, The Two Countries of Pakis- tan, and the adventures of a group of young people cycling across Canada en route to the Fair at Osaka. PUBLIC NOTICE TO SCHREIBER RESIDENTS RE DOG TAGS Schreiber residents are reminded that By-Law 405 requires that each owner of a dog must have a license for the current year.
