JANUARY 24, I973 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE '5 RECREATION NEWS Opportunities for Youth - I973: The Recreation Office has now recei- ved all information pertaining to the Federal Government's Opportunities For Youth programme for I973. The infor- mation contains application forms and summary sheets and an information bro- chure on the programme itself. Remember that this programme is pri- marily designed to create employment for students during the summer. The initiative for applying for this pro- gramme is really with the students. If you have any ideas that may be applic- able under the OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH programme, be sure to make application. All you have to do is drop into the Recreation Office to pick up the nec- essary information on this programme. Joseph Macerollo Concert Successful: The public concert which was held last Thursday, January I8th, turned out to be successful as a little over 160 people attended. The majority of people attending were elementary school students. The performance given by Mr. Macerollo was very interesting as he demonstrated to the audience the versatility of the accordion. The music performed by Mr. Macerollo that evening ranged from classical to con- temporary. It is hoped that in the future we will be able to have the opportunity of bringing in talent comparable to that of Mr. Joseph Macerollo. Upholstery Workshop Starts Monday: The Upholstery workshop as advertis- ed in recent issues of the News will be starting on Monday, January 29th, and will run straight through to Friday February 2nd. The workshop reached its maximum number of registrations very quickly and the Recreation Office presently has names of people who are interested in taking a second course. A decision as to whether a second course will be operated will be made this week. I973 Recreation and Swim Pool Discs: As mentioned in last week's News, preparing the I973 Recreation and Swim Pool discs for distribution. This should be completed by Wednesday, Jan- uary 3Ist. All members of the Terrace Bay Recreation Association are encour- aged to drop down to the Recreation Office after January 3Ist to pick up their new discs. When picking up your I973 discs, be sure to bring your old discs (I972) with you. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE RECREATION ASSOCIATION TO PICK UP THEIR NEW DISCS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER FEBRUARY IST AS THE 1972 DISCS WILL NOT BE ACCEPT- ABLE AFTER SUNDAY, FEBRUARY IITH. Hockey Action This Week: This coming Sunday the Manitouwadge "Copper Kings" will be visiting the Terrace Bay "Superiors" for a Junior 'B' encounter. Local hockey fans are asked to support the Juniors by attend ing home games. !
